I get mine at Walmart - about $4-$5. In the diabetic section, near the glucose stuff.  Ketostix.  Cost saving tip .. cut the strips lenghtwise ... very carefully (they are already thin) and you double the quantity of sticks.

You guys can count me in.  I'm tired of being the chunky money that I have become, and I joined Weight Watchers Thursday!  So far I'm doing good...(granted, its only been two days LOL)...but adding a little extra incentive to my goal will help even more! :)

You don't have to cut out carbs, just eat the right ones.  Simple carbs are out.  Fibrous carbs, like brocolli, squash, green beans, cucumbers, dill pickles, and cauliflower will inhibit the production of insulin, which is what causes the fat from other foods to be picked up from your stomach and taken to places like your hips and thighs.  In addition, brocolli and cauliflower are catabolic, which means that they actually burn more calories in their metabolism than they introduce to your digestive system when you eat them, so you can eaat as much of them as you want to calm your hungry tummy.

You can also eat complex carbs (sweet potatoes, baked potatoes, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, oatmeal, grits) IF you eat them in moderation and never with beef or pork (in those cases, double up on the fibrous carbs).  The best lean proteins to eat are non-fried fish (except catfish), egg whites, and turkey and chicken breast (dark meat is okay, but it has more fat).  READ LABELS in the grocery store and shoot for 10% or less calories from fat for lean protein and 50% or less for not so lean proteins like beef or pork).  Just because something says it is 85% lean on the front of the package doesn't mean it is.  Read the nutrition label and do the math.  Carbs and protein have 4 calories per gram and fat has 9 calories per gram.

If you can't give up bread (like me), try Thriive bread at Great Harvest - a little pricey, but well worth it, or Nature's Own Double Fiber wheat bread at the grocery store.  Both have protein added, and are high fiber, and your body treats them like a fibrous carb.

Probably the most important thing I learned on Thrive! and the thing that kept me from cheating is that it takes your body 48 hours to go into efficient fat burning mode, and it only takes one cookie, one piece of candy, one sugar loaded soft drink to knock it out.  So if you're going to cheat, try to string together several days of really sticking to your plan (whatever it is) because every time you cheat you have to wait two more days before you start efficiently burning fat again.

Those are just some tidbits I learned.  I hope they help.
