An Alabama Life Flight landed at Barron Stadium and 7:30pm to off load a patient. Anyone know why an Alabama Life Flight would bring someone to Floyd Hospital?

Closest trauma center to the accident possibly?  Ala./Ga. state line only about 20 miles from here.  Just a thought.

you're prob right stoker, if the accident happened in centre or somewhere around there then we are the closest, i think the fmc trauma coverage covers cherokee AL.

I imagine that would be the reason.  Though Floyd is a Class II trauma center, it can handle many things that a smaller hospital can't.  If you need Class I, you go to Grady or Erlanger

Same here. They've usually got some of the best on those choppers.

I've been lucky enough to be @ Barron when they've landed a few times. I find it cool everytime, especially night landings when the PD and EMS have to turn their lights on to guide them in. Just wish it was under better circumstances usually when they land.

Life Saver has a unit in Anniston and they cover West Georgia. UAB would be a better choice, but they may have been too busy. In other words the location of the accident doesn't always dictate which hospital as much as the severity of the trauma and the availability of a level 1 center.

I have friends on Life Saver. I'll ask them what happened.

If I am not mistaken, that particular flight was carrying a victim of an accident in Centre. A motorcycle was struck by a vehicle in front of the Walmart on highway 411. Cherokee Fire/EMS landed helicopter in Leesburg and it flew the victim to Rome.

On our way to Panama City Beach Sunday we saw an accident and traffic was stopped and life flight came in and took one out. It was amazing to see all that we did. I just feel really bad to know that someone was in that much distress. It's a terrible, but good to know that men and women have the ability to help using life flight. Kudos to them all involved.
