Unless someone on here has something worthwhile to tell me, I am going to presume that the good faith attempt to adjust pay has fallen through.  I will personally start a **Plan B** effort.  County Commission recall.  While I may not succeed, I will escalate the war

From what friends of the commision tell me, it has entered the "delay until after the elections" stage. After November, it will enter the forgotten stage.

They are just FRICKSING it. Just like I have said they would. They did spend $20,000.00 on golf carts for the Forum. Now theres a money making hot spot for the  county. My best advise for voters in Floyd County, lets get a new county commission and  manager. The commissioner are just plain two faced. VOTE EM OUT.

I have been assured that I have a better chance of urinating in the ocean and raising its level than I do of getting the necessary signatures of people willing to step forward.  Oh well, I was serious at the time LOL

BillT........................................I've been wondering the same thing...........................................................so I axed someone who knows...................................I'm going to repeat the response; it will be paraphrasing and I'm going to change a few details because this person was afraid of losing their job...............................

They're holding out hope that something will be done in the next month, for reasons that they can't divulge.................................

They have money set aside from the FOP to campaign Against those who try to further harm public safety employees..............................................

They are very disappointed that they have not been approached by one Floyd County Democratic Party representative willing to support their cause, so they have changed their long term plan...............................................................it is basically to punish those candidates who refuse to do what's right, EVEN if the resulting candidate is someone just as bad..........................................................

They have systematically built a large voting block of those who believe that law enforcement is more important than foot bridges and golf carts; they believe that there are those commissioners who could care less about re-election and that there are those who think screwing the deputies is the best way to get re-elected................they are prepared to take on both mindsets....................................

They will ask for public support openly and unabashedly, but it will be a month or two before that happens.....................................................

The last part I'll send you Private Message..............................

Did anyone really believe them about a raise? I mean how many times are the Law Enforcement officers  going to be promised something and then be lied to? I know that if I ever win the lotto I WILL give to the officers some how. But for now all I can do is tell them thank you and keep up the great work.

here's the way it was explained to me.........................................

Would you be willing to pay an extra $12 dollars for every 100,000 that your property is worth, to ensure that the public safety problem is fixed??????? that the question that will eventually be posed to the electorate, whether it's by the commissioners or by local deputies.............................................

One of the reasons they continue to fight on, in spite of history, is that they want those officers who do not like their current situation, to have hard proof that nothing is going to change, so that they can make their decision intelligently as to whether or not to stay...............................................................................I'm not sure some of them would believe nothing will change if the entire commission issued an edict stating such while pounding their feet on the officer's teeth..............................................................but that's just the type of people we're lucky to have right now

i was just going thru some old newspapers, and a headline from october 1988 was in reference to county police officers pay. specifically the loss of their 5% raises being taken away. seems this same thing has been going on for over 20 years, and they werelied to then as well as now and throughout the years. bet they don't have problems making ends meet, or buying groceries or gas. I really hope to GOD that they can't sleep at night because of this.

They have to give up a pay raise so the Iraqi people can have a Police force, Fire, EMS, 911,Etc.

Iraqi 911 dispatcher: Platoon Leader respond to 2120 Bagdaddy Place disturbance call.

Someone in a position to know told me tonight that they believe all they are getting from the commission is lip service. They said they (Floyd County) are thinking that this all will pass...

I am wondering if the officers and deputies will let this pass without action...

Just curious what your thoughts are?

This should not be a big surprise to anyone . It was mentioned when the first meetings took place by numerous posters on this site. I would enjoy seeing all public safety picketting in front of Rome city hall and Floyd County offices, and keep it up until the paychecks and other benefits are on paper.

I can remember back in 1991 that county law enforcement (S.O. & P.D.) got together and started attending the commission meetings in mass numbers and waited to hear what the commission had to say and made them listen to what law enforcement had to say.  County law enforcement banded together and pressed the issue on them to do something about pay.  It didn't take long before the commission became believers.

I have heard stories of officers that were there with signs that said "I am on food stamps!"  I bet there are officers now who would qualify for them!
