| I have a drive home vehicle, and have been known to exceed the speed limit a time or two, but only in situations that call for speed. I will begrudgenly put my seatbelt on while i'm in said vehicle (for you RGS, LOL) and being I have driven emergency apparatus for going on .....well a bunch of years without an accident, I feel i can do it safely. | Just saw a fire department Explorer leaving Sam's/Walmart parking lot with a spouse in the vehicle and loaded down with groceries. Great way to spend my tax dollar!

The only thing I can say about that, is if he is 'on call' which may stick the spouse and the groceries at the Fire... (like that would happen), but the FD is sort of an exception... cause you have on duty, off duty, and on call.
A good friend of my family was Superintendent of the school system where I grew up. As such, he got a city government vehicle. He moved outside of the city/county where he worked. He parked the car at his mother-in-laws about 4 miles North of the city limits, and drove his POV the rest of the way to and from his home.
Moral of the story, he has a conscience and did not take advantage of his position, although no one probably would have said a thing!
