You know I was making a joke about the horses, but you know horses in the parks area might not be a bad idea.  The animals could be donated from a rescue type program.  I know Albany did this type of program down in their parks and it worked out well.

That is a good idea, but theres one major problem w/ it...

It's a good idea, therefore it's against the law in the community.

I took a trip to walmart earlier and I passed 3 different city police cars at 3 different areas. One was watching traffic. One was at the redlight. The other one I passed in front of walmart. :)

Lets do a poll and see. Maybe I just get paranoid here by myself at night (guess that why I'm up so late, I worry about too much, lol)

Yes, IMO, it is going to be a huge safety issue.  But, honestly, how far are taxpayers willing to go to expect the same amount of service?  Gas prices are negatively affecting all aspects of our lives, including our law enforcement agencies.  Are taxpayers willing to fork out more money to help pay for the gas required?  Better question still, even if we are willing, are we able?  Most everybody I have talked to is trying their best to make ends meet already.....

We are at the cusp of entering some very dire straits.....  all services, which we have been accustomed to receiving from governmental agencies, (to include law enforcement), are going to begin seeing severe deficits in their budgets.

I have heard that there are several area county health departments that are on a hiring freeze.... some personnel are already being laid off.... and probably permanently.  Some folks who have had access to free healthcare, may no longer have access due to budget constraints. (and, yes, many of these people may be here illegally.) Tuberculosis and some other diseases, which up until now have been on the decline, may begin to become more prevalent.

How about our education system?  How in the world are they going to be able to afford to provide bussing for students and remain within their budget?

There are no easy answers..... but the short answer to the question and the poll:  yes, cutting down on patrols is going to negatively affect public safety.

skimping on public safety, as floyd county has done for years, has one effect that can be seen today and in the future............................................less bang for the buck.......................................................

spending tens of thousands of dollars to train people for other counties can not be cost effective or public safety effective, no matter how you look at it.......................................................

Polk and Bartow have now and will continue to increase the gap in the number of good officers on the force vs. the "shouldn't be officers in the first place', while floyd county will pick up the scraps....................................................while Rome City Police laugh and say "yep, to save money we're going to hold open four vacancies"...floyd county cries and says "we have to hire anyone we can and just hope and pray they stay for a few months..........

Would you rather pay for police officer CANDIDATES to sit at the academy and learn.......................................or would you rather pay police officers to do law enforcement??????????????????? that's the question, and one that floyd county has answered loud and clear...............................

Belt tightening and "dire times" mean more crime, not less..................................the knowledge of career criminals that floyd county is extremely short-handed, and those that are on the force are not allowed to patrol, will lead to more brazen crimes...........................if you think times are tough because you can barely makes ends meet,,,,,,just wait til those "ends" are stolen on a regular basis.................

It's sad because floyd county police was once the place where everyone wanted to work and where the best officers and cadets came and stayed....................................now it is the training academy of northwest georgia law enforcement..........................................the only way that can be justified by bean counters is that they dont' know how to correctly count beans, or their plan is to destroy the county police little by little..............................if they're stupid, vote them out...................................if they're planning on destroying local law enforcement, Keep Them In, because you couldn't find a better set of commissioners for succeeding in their plans................
