<-------has to swallow hard when someone mentions matt getting a "SECOND" chance.......try third, fourth or fifth............................how many times does it take??????????
BillT can probably verify this..........................A LOT OF TIMES, if someone has been locked away for a few years, and a kink is thrown in the judicial line causing the possibility of a re-trial, the DA will allow the defendant to plea to the original charge (or a reduced one) and his only punishment will be the time that he has already served......................................................wonder if matt is willing to admit guilt or will risk another 6-7 in the pokey.........................................................................wouldn't wanna have to make that call

Since I have seen every inch of this trail from one end to the other and know ever detail let me update folks on what is going on right now.
Will Matt plead guilty to obtain a probation and get this behind him? No way will he ever do that and you can take this from a source that knows. No guessing no nothing it will never happen.
Now what is going to happen? Judge Durham wants this to just go away and if left up to him Matt would be completely free today. He grabbed a hold of something that backfired and now he wants to dump it. Only deal is he can't dump it. Patterson the DA will not let him dump it because she see's it as her only hope for relections. She knows that Dan Morgan is about to do her a number. Will she retry Matt? You can beat your last dime she will. Will she win? She does not have a hats chance of winning the second time around. All the evidence that they tried so hard and did manage to get shoved under the rug, like the faulty intersection and new witness can all be brought into the trial the next time around and when that happens she is toast. Judge Durham is smarter than we think. He knows this already and all he wants to do is off load it before it takes him down the drain along with Patterson and Burkhalter. But he has Patterson to contend with. She has already got the Rome News down on her and has spent tons of tax payers money trying to win cases she can not win. Burkhalter will be beat by Steve Hulsey for sheriff. Why because of the what he let go on while Matt was in jail and also what he let go on with some ohter prisoners. Any one can go to the court house and pull his record to see what he has been repremended for during his career. I got to see this record which by the way is public and I gasped when I saw it contained three pages. It left me wondering how in the world he could have ever got elected in the first place. Now I know allot of people out there will say this will never happen. All I can say to that is wait and see.

| If Lee Patterson is fighting for justice in this case she has my vote. If the prisoners don't like Burkhalter and he makes them uncomfortable well then he has my vote too.

Look at this way. He only beat Hulsey by 3800 votes in the last election and Hulsey did not have near the fire power he will have this time around. This time Burkhalter has some more strikes against him and he has a campaign manager who knows a ton of folks. Yep no doubt about it he is history. I really don't have a dog in this hunt but I just look at facts and I sure don't go emotions. I go on numbers and the numbers are not with Patterson or Burkhalter.

Justice, you got your head in the Clouds! I know Tim NOT from his campain manager.
Tim has done more for Floyd County than Steve has or ever will do!! He and his Deputies have really put together some great programs and really gotten out in the community.

Like I said I do not really have a dog in this hunt. But as I also said I got to see Burkhalters record on repremends. Now I have no doubt that this record was real and it come from the court house. I have not doubt that it is public record. This thing is being passed around like a freight train out of controle through out Floyd County.
I do not really know Burkhalter but I know what my eyes see. This record has some things in it that will knock you right off your feet. Think I am just trying to cause the man some pain. No way. I am just telling you what I was. Heck don't take my word for it just go on down and request his records.

Son don't get all bent out of shape. I am just stating facts. And the fact is he has three pages of reprements through out his career and some of the reprements on there are in my opinion quite bad. Heck I am just left sitting here trying to understand how any one with a record like that could be elected sheriff.
Tell you what I can do. If I can get old Auther to let up on my hands I will try and post the repremends on this site. But let me give you a heads up, you more than like will be left with your bottom lip hanging down.

Don't know anything about the golf deal. Just not into golf. But fact is he did not loose money on the fund raiser so I do not know where you got that tid bit. One thing I know for sure. Hulsey has some people on his side this time out who have deep pockets. My guess is when the money is needed it will be there. Now I could be wrong about this but another thing for sure I have seen people at the Landmark resturant gathered around him and I know for a fact that those people have enough money to burn a wet elephant. Sorry but just a fact.
