| Has anyone heard if they are going to make any kind of statement about Fricks arrest. Since the people elected him to office do we not deserve something explaining other than he just forgot. Im guessing that they are hoping we will just let it go away and forget about it. I believe that there should be some type of comment made by the commission. I would guess his court date should be coming up( arent they usually a month after the charge) , unless he has asked for State court date, or someone has made an effort to get his charges taken care of. Lets keep the threads alive and make them give us an answer, remember its an election year. They are there to serve us, not to cover up and protect each other. just my thoughts and wanting to keep the fire hot. Last edited on Thu Jul 3rd, 2008 02:36 am by BEENAROUND

Now, correct me if I am wrong. Didn't Mr. Fricks apologize to his fellow commissioners for his procrastination? Does anyone remember seeing where he apologized to the citizens of Floyd County? I am sure the apology to the commission was for the attention that was drawn to them with an up coming election. I see that Mr. Fricks took a convenient vacation when he saw that there were going to be citizens at the commission meeting and that they wanted to address the incident. It doesn’t look like there is going to be any opposition to Mr. Fricks in this election but, I hope that the citizens of Floyd County will remember what has occurred during the next election. I also hope that the citizens will remember how the other commission members handled this situation. The chairman has opposition this year and has done a poor job of over seeing his fellow commissioners. Remember that at election time. I think that it is time for a change. These commissioners have shown that they are puppets with their own agendas and do not really have the best interest of the citizens of Floyd County on their minds. Remember, this is just the opinion of someone who is watching.

I plan on going and getting on the agenda before I go. But I don't think an apology is enough. I also want the other Commissioner's to explain why they are turning their heads when Fricks breaks the law of our land therefore spitting on oaths to uphold the law even if they are implied; why he's capable of determining the salaries of those who have to serve and apply the law - and if they showed up at a commissioner's meeting they would certainly suffer tremendously; and why they are willing to throw the citizenry under the bus and taint all of us with Fricks and their explicit willingness to flaunt their negative actions in front of Georgia and the world? "Birds of a feather flock together" may be the case with them. But I do not want to be in their flock that has no decency, integrity or responsibility. If they can't grow up and lead, get out of the leadership positions. At least empty seats are less dangerous to the future of the children.
As for Fricks, what led to the initial problem that had his license revoked? That's rhetorical because I don't want to know. It's his actions of the past months that are in question. And I don't have to repeat them. But what I will say is that it is not 'misdemeanor this' or 'misdemeanor that'. It is that Fricks consciously broke the law and then used his position as a leader of FLOYD COUNTY to try and get around the law when he was caught. This is not simply embarrassment. It is direct, focused actions of a man willing to break the law numerous times over a period of time. He is not qualified to make the decisions for voters who sometimes have to budget over time in order to follow those laws. He is not qualified to make decisions for people who have to live off the wages he uses his influence on, when they have to apply that wage to pay to follow those laws. He is not qualified to sit in a position of leadership in front of anyone who is over the age of knowing right from wrong - most certainly anyone who presently has a driver's license from the State of Georgia. For the other young people, since he can possibly rob their future as consequences from his decisions, he has no right to influence them. He needs to resign.
As for the Commssioners: they are supposed to be held to a higher standard - at least while in office. But to turn their faces away from Fricks' actions does not take a higher standard. It's no different than a person turning away in disgust after seeing any sort of crime and watching the criminal taken away in handcuffs. If they were driving by on the road and saw a driver led off in cuffs, that's what a person would think - that the police probably had reason to take the driver away. It's a natural response.
However, it is NOT natural for a group of people to hover over a person (who admits guilt and apologizes to the them) but still hold him in such high esteem as to encourage him lead voters across the land. Remember, he did something else to lose the license years ago.
It is implied that all voters follow the law. And we can understand making mistakes. We all make them. The separation between us happens when some of us repair the damage or stop the negative behavior. The others continue down the wrong path. We know how much value Fricks places on following the law. Because he doesn't value the voters enough to even apologize, he's even more blatant about how little they are valued.
So how much do the other Commissioners value the law? How much do they value their constituents? How much do they value their integrity and honor? Does anyone have any?
Whatever is done with Fricks on the Commission, it is tainted. It will be questioned more than usual. Covering up for Fricks is covering up for lack of character and judgment. If a Commissioner can't stand up on his own two feet, he doesn't need to be there.

I think the only way anything will happen is if people start attending the commission meetings and voicing their concern... otherwise, they will let it slide...

OK, the next Commissioner's meeting at night when folks can attend:
I know one of you posted the date available but I can't find that post. I keep wondering around these forums trying to find it. Would someone post that date again?
I'm getting my 'ducks in a row.'
Thank you
