it is hard to find very many mechanics that will actually diagnose your mechanical problem or... preventative maintenance by pointing out what they notice is the problem...they seem to be satisfied with just doing the work you specify and not going the extra mile. now im not saying that all the mechanics in the rome area are that way . not at all... there are still many who are a credit to their profession, and they are usually the ones who stay covered up.. have more business than they can shake a stick at...but the ''posers'' the fake mechanics who Claim to have the necessary skills to perform the job, but in the long run...end up doing more harm than good...(if you were a poser in the medical profession, you would go to prison, for impersonating a professional).... but...any dolt with a wrench can open a shop...and self titled....call themselves a mechanic... and that hurts the general public..especially the customer who is perhaps elderly, - on a fixed income...and gets the run-around...because they are unknowing that there is a certification system that identifies the truly professional..from the shade tree....and these con-men are everywhere. there should be some type of accounting for these types of fraudulent businesses...that are popping up everywhere. i guess, that if you want quality, dependable mechanics...then you should expect to pay more, and get what you pay for. ASE. i believe is one of the certifications that mechanics have... and next time...i will use only those mechanics that are ASE certified....instead of these bumbling buffoons that totally stripped out my motor mount bolts, and didnt tighten down anything on my struts,.... leaving me in a precarious position, possibly causing an accident or worse.... i certainly wont mention any names ...for fear of reprisal...perhaps a slander lawsuit for defamation...but they know who they are and they heard all about it from me ....(in so Many words)...i only wish someone could start a craigs list...or some type of angies list for the local rome /cedartown area, so we all can do without these bums that like to call themselves a ''mechanic''... thus discrediting the profession as a whole.... a mechanic doesnt only have a responsibility to make profit...and take care of his harley davidson on the weekends.and keep his $wimming pool clean and blue.......but a serious responsibility to - fix the cars properly,if serving the general public at large... and never send someone back out on the road in an unsafe car. if knowingly... ..especially if the work was shoddy and they didnt follow through.negligence is unacceptable in any profession... including mine... or i will quietly wheelchair myself to the nearest attorney, and file claim after the accident that was caused by the shoddy work...if it was indeed a contributing factor..or perhaps the main cause on the State Patrol motor vehicle accident report...they definitely can expect a call from my attorney... ..(some peoples junky cars are beyond all expectation of safety though and the mechanic cant perform miracles..)...but that is beside the point.... .....Last edited on Wed Jul 2nd, 2008 11:13 am by romegeorgiaman

Brice and his men at Jim's are the best that I have found here in town. They are ASE certified and go that extra mile for you. I have them do whatever needs to be done on my vehicles. Big job or small job, it doesn’t matter what it is. And they also have some of the best prices on tires in town too.

I prefer Binkley's on Calhoun Ave and Captain Tire on Shorter Ave. I always get excellent work there at a reasonable price.
I'm sorry that this happened to you and I hope you find a shop that you like and trust. There are plenty of shops in this town that I would NEVER take my car too so I understand your frustration completely.

How many times have you had to be taken back for reinforcement of your training? Did she make them keep you on a leash? What kind of treats do you like best? Inquiring minds want to know!

I go back quadrenially, same year as the presidential election.........................................................no leashes allowed..........................everytime I see someone in a leash, they end up a co-conspirator in a federal porn/racketeering case...........................................
I prefer undercooked pork products
but I must say, I have no affiliation with
Cyndy Douan's Animal Training Center
but it is the best thing that has ever happened to me in my entire life..........................................the prices are reasonable, the staff is great and they really make you feel at home........................I've been to HUNDREDS of other places and no one could train me, but Cyndy allowed me to lie at her feet, next to the hearth, while she read me articles from the most recent Home & Garden...........................it settled my nerves enough so that I could learn...............................................again, I'm not affiliated, but would like to recommend:

To RomeGAman:
Week before last, I took my car to have the brakes checked, I suspected air in the line or a bad master cylinder. The first place just checked the pads and said there was no problem. I took it to Express Tire in Rome and they did a complete diagnostic on the brake system and could not find the problem. They even backed the master cylinder out to check for leaks and couldn't find what was causing the problem. They spent two hours on the car and because they could not find the problem (and they told me I was not loosing my mind, there definitely was a problem), they only charged me $9.99. There are two switches that Express Tire did not know their purpose but one says something about brake adjustment. There were two codes that were turned off, one was key-less entry (which I do not have) and the other they did not recognize.
I ended up taking the car to the dealership and they said it was the master cylinder and the brake pads were bad. Over $600 and they may have done nothing more than flip or adjust a switch and the car will be going back in a day or two because the brakes are still not right.
I've had this car 10 years and this was the first brake job, obviously, I do not ride my brakes.
