I consider myself to be thrifty and I am learning more and more that you have to watch the prices like a hawk. We went shopping for school clothes and 8 out 11 things were wrong. It finally got to the point that the lady was getty pissy with me but some of the markdowns were 40%. She started telling me that I was wrong and it must have been misplaced and I explained then they were all misplaced because we had to go digging for the right size. I had to take her on a tour of the clothing and as I was showing her she started ripping the sale signs down. I asked her if they were not on sale and she said yes but she was taking down the sign until the computer was fixed before someone ELSE COMPLAINED! I ended up apologizing to her which now REALLY makes me mad but my husband was with us and said dont apologize to her for treating you poorly. She got mad at me and got someone else to help me. Am I wrong here? I was looking at the difference and almost every thing was 8-16 dollars in savings. Its so frusterating when you try to handle it nicely and you are still treated poorly. I would have been treated the same if I had cussed her out I am thinking. With 2 kids starting school this year, I have to watch every dollar. Speaking of shopping, does noone work in this town anymore? I don't think there is a "good" time to go shopping anymore..
Okay..some better..thanks!

It was Belks. I snooty old woman that acted like she was working at Neiman Marcus. GRR..
I have had it happen before at Goodys though. I have stopped buying from them because something happened to their quality of clothing. I had several things get piling after one wash and after 2-3 wearings it looked 2 years old. Now, my 11-year-old is a tomboy at heart and is rough but I would rather pay a little bit more and have them last longer. It depended on the brand too obviously. Macy's at Town Center is having a huge sale for the little ones (less than 16 children's) and I love the Children's Place outlet in Calhoun. If you go to their website you can sign up for mailing and they send you 15% off your entire purchase and you get to keep the coupon until it expires. I go and buy for next season at a size or 2 bigger at 3.99 a shirt or pant and feel like I robbed the joint. They last a long time, too.

| I just went to Children's Place at Town Center and they are having a good sale on summer stuff right now. I just went there and bought 3 shirts, 3 pairs of shorts, 2 pairs of flip flops ($1.99 each), and a pair of sunglasses for around $35. It is one of my favorite places to shop.

Also, I would have gotten the manager involved before I walked around with her. It doesn't matter to me in the least if they start getting angry, I just calmly say, "I think we need to get someone else up here to help you."
I mentioned on another thread about things not ringing up correctly. 20/20 (or some other show like that) does shows all the time (usually around Christmas) about how stores will have things marked down and it is rarely correct in the computer. Belks was one of the stores they profiled.

I love the Children's Place outlet in Calhoun also. I wish we had stores like that in Rome.
I used to shop at Old Navy alot there, but it just seems like I haven't been hitting good deals there in awhile.
Belk always has good sales. I buy alot there. We just need more stores in Rome. We've had the same ole ones for years. The ones that come and go I can see why.

We quit Goody's also. I wish I had a dollar for every button, or zipper, that malfunctioned from there.

Hey..I went to Old Navy yesterday and the majority is 50% off and the shirts that were not 50% off were 10 bucks. The little people department had take an additional 50% off racks. Always love those. We need to make a sales alert bulletin on here so we can share the news. My mom gives me a hard time about "being too good" to shop at Wal-mart. I took her with me to Children's Place one time and she left me alone. Wal-Mart can't beat their prices, quality or cuteness and I dont have to wait until Christmas for the mark down. I need quality and inexpensive and I can find that if I buy ahead and wait. I have a huge Children's Place bag full of winter clothes for my little one for next winter..it was 18 pieces in all and I spent 30 bucks. pullovers, sweaters, a christmas outfit...all onsale and additional 15% off that. Better than yard saling Speaking of..I need an eliptical. Anyone got one? I have been hitting the yard sales looking for one. Mine (that a friend passed down) complete broke at the handle. It was old I suppose.

| Speaking of good deals, do you know when "Twice is Nice" starts or how I can get on the mailing list?

twiceisnice.biz is the site

Mommies after my own heart! We need a "Romewired" shopping trip to the outlets in Calhoun! We are HUGE fans of the Children's Place and Old Navy. They now have Gymboree, which is a little more expensive (not an outlet I don't think), but their clothes are Oh so cute!!!

| I was just looking online at The Children's Place and they have a TON of stuff on sale. Did they have alot in the store? I was thinking of going to Calhoun this weekend, but didn't know if it was too early to catch any good sales.

Usually what is online is a good indication of what will be in the store. do you have that 15% off coupon they mail you? I got 1 in the mail thats good for 15% my entire purchase. They send out 3 one for you and 2 for friends and they will give it back to you until it expires. I have saved a lot of money with that coupon.
