There is no legal requirement that you keep receipts for all your purchases...........................what if I throw it in the trash can prior to leaving the store.......................do they arrest me or take away my goods???????????? LOL, I'd like to see that
There is no legal requirement that you prove ownership of anything that is rightfully yours............................................NOW, if the greeter is bold enough to call 911 and complain that I stole it..........................that greeter will be very sad when the receipt is shown to the cops who pull me over
Banned from Wal-Mart LOL.............................they oughtta sell tshirts (made in China of course)
and even sadder when the company writes you a check!

RGS I am just curious as to what you say to them when they ask for your receipt. My husband and I were at Walmart last night and we bought mini-blinds, all of which were not in bags. When we got to the door greeter, I was telling my husband to just walk on by them because I had read on here that we had no "obligation" to show them our receipt and WAIT while they double check it. (My husband is NOT as BOLD as I am and he just asked that I not try that while he was with me)  So we didn't, and the greeter said, "I just need to see your receipt". How should I respond to that?

Y'all finally sucked me in to the forums. I had to share: It's been 2920+ days since I darkened the door of any Wal-Mart or Sam's Club in any city. Just got sick of what they represent--overconsumerism, poor customer service, poor labor practices. Have a funny story to share about my last ever trip there--will wait for a late night.
I fear once I've joined y'all will get sick of me posting my 2 cents everywhere. As if I needed another way to procrastinate writing my column! By the way, has anyone else noticed that there is no longer a "cents" symbol on a keyboard? When did that happen?
Jess we love opinions, sometimes not even our own. lol
But do leave the procrastination to Fricks as he does it so well.

but in that unfortunate instance that they are making it difficult on you to obey their rules...........................walk to the car and don't stop....................

I understand, and I do normally comply with showing them my receipt as I thought I HAD to do it. But now that I know I do not, when Christmas time comes and the lines are backing up at the door to check receipts, I will walk on out to my car.
This has been helpful information for me!
P.S. I went to Walmart earlier today and the greeter asked for my receipt as I was leaving. She did not even look down at it then gave it back to me and said, "Thank you, have a great day". Too funny, such a waste of time!
