| Watch one episode of "I Survived" on the Biography channel and you will never let anyone in your car again.

| Once in your car, they pull out a knife or gun and force you to drive to your ATM. Don't roll the window all the way down, that tells them up front you are cautious, find an easier target, cause that what you were. Be careful. These people rely on people wanting to help their fellow man. Them walking where you were at, I would never lowered the window, just drove off. It is a shame we have so many scum out there that restricts us from helping those that really need help.

I know one guy that would drive to like Mobile or New Orleans and panhandle for his gambling money. He said he could make several hundred dollars in just a half day.

Downtown, I see lots of these types of folks every week. Many want $$ for gas, or something else needy, and reek of alcohol.
Once, I was asked by someone they need $$ for gas. I asked where their car was. "At the gas station," was the reply.
"Which one, I'll take you to your car and help you out at the gas station." I asked
"Never mind." And he walked off.
I give similar inquiries to the same folks that ask for $$ for food. I offer to take them to McD's and get the same response.
OR, I've told them I would call a cop and give the cop the funds to be taken where they needed to go. On those occasions, I could have sworn I seen dust in their tracks as they quickly left with a "no thanks."

ROP's right RNPARA. To many shadows. And the story about dropping off the water bill? Are we all gonna have to start carrying our guns everywhere? I know that some people already carry them in their cars. Are we gonna have to start keeping them on us? I mean what would have happened if those two had tried to do something to you? Sad world we live in these days.

Definitely carry all the time. Watch TV and you know how dangerous it is out there. It only gets worse.

They drive a small 2 door red car that is bet up. They have came into our work and asked for money twice. She said that her son had died last month. She told us she had a gum infection and started asking us if we were going to pray for her and if we believed in God and went to church. Then she asked for 5 bucks to get gas to go to Alabama.
I saw them today one the Loop.
Just a heads up.
A couple of weeks ago I ran into the same two people ..... an older white man and woman is in her 40's and African American ..... the woman was holding a rag to the right side of her face , like she had a tooth ache ......on the Loop in small 2 door red car loaded down with clothes and the hood was up.... I went past them ....turned around and went back and see if I could help them.
the man told Me...... he had run out of gas.....I told him if he had a gas can I would take him and get some gas...... he told Me that he had a can but didn't have any money to buy any....I didn't have any money either.... all I carry is plastic.
He told me thanks for stopping.....and I was on My way.

about 15 years ago I was driving a taxi, a couple came up to me while I was sitting in
a restaurant and asked if I'd give them a ride, the man was disabled, had only one
leg, and crutches, he was wearing a back pack and seemed to get around pretty well.
I remember seeing him earlier in the day with a sign saying "will work for food", well
I chatted with him about his destination, he was heading to North Carolina, wanted
to stop in suanee because he felt he could get a ride from a trucker up that way, I
refused to give him a ride, normally I wouldnt but after knowing a one legged pool
shark that did the same thng and the amount of money he made I figured he could
pay the fare to go the 15 miles up the road
the following day in the local paper he was on the front page!
he was bragging to a reported about the amount of money he scammed people out
of each day with his little sign, the free rides and all his little crap, turns out he was
pulling in about $450 in cash each day by just sitting out during the heavy traffic
periods, kinda made me want to have a leg amputated

| I know that my church has stopped just giving money to people who come in. They carry them to the store and make the purchase for them. It is funny how they don't need help anymore when you do that

I had the opportunity to run into one of those "I will work for Food" individuals sitting outside of burger king in east rome. I stopped and informed him that I had to run into K-mart and would be back in a few to pick him up...He wanted to know what kind of work I had for him to do... I informed him that I had a forty acre field that needed mowing and my tractor was not working..so he would have to use a push mower........ To my suprise he was gone when I came out of K-mart....LOL
I hate a LIAR.......he said he would work for food.....I had a job for him....But I guess he wasn't that hungry.....
Just a note...pay attention to what kind of shoes they are wearing.....If they are wearing a 100 dollar pair of shoes chances are they dont need a D@@n thing
