Just curious, for those that love Scenic rides, where do you go?  IE, I know about many routes outta Ella Jay or Blairsville or Franklin or Helen and that... But what about locally, Floyd, Gordon or Bartow counties?

Where do you go for the excellent Sunday drive?

There are some nice drives over in Alabama (Cavespring is only about 4 miles from the AL line), All around the Weiss Lake area. Also the back roads (20/100 toward Coosa if I'm not mistaken) up to summerville and Chattanooga are nice. If you make it as far as Chattanooga, there are beautiful drives toward South Pittsburgh, Dunlap and Whitwell. One of the most beautiful scenes is from the mountain top, looking down on the valley that looks like a patchwork quilt, going to Dunlap.

Yes, the route to Dunlap is beautiful.  There is a pull-off there where you can also watch the hangliders as they come down.  If you are up that way, make sure you stop for lunch or dinner at a small, family-owned restaraunt called "The Cookie Jar."

Thanks Red. I printed out your directions and when I get some "extra" gas money, will take a drive out there. It's a great way to relax and forget my troubles.

In the spring I used to love to ride my motorcycle from Cave Spring to Cedartown by the creek, wonderful smells. You can also find some good photography spots.

See what you started Paul, I'm finding out about good places too.

Thanks TW, I printed your directions too and the link was very good.

ROP, my friend, I love that Cavespring Cedartown drive too. For three months after we first moved up here, I lived in Atlanta and drove up every weekend. I came up 278 so I could come Cedartown Cavespring road. There are some places where the trees touch each other from opposite sides of the road and it is so cool in the summer. Besides, my car had no air conditioning.
