| This thread has been started for people to help out a fellow Roman whose house burned down. We are asking for dontated materials and time to help get this young man back on his feet. If you have material or the time to help, please send either myself or Spice a PM and let us know. We are working on a time for me and her to get together to inspect the house and find out what all is needed. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated !

OK folks, there were many of you who took an interest in trying to help with the situation that Rusty Dixon has found himself in, how about giving us some input? We're not asking for money, we are asking for a little of your time or skill or cast offs or even advise.
I've been making calls and have a couple of people looking at possibly donating the use of a dumpster, TJ is looking at getting together a materials list and has met with the building inspector who said Rusty has made some progress cleaning out some of the debris and they may give him an extension, Coggers is going to talk to her husband tonight about plumbing work, and I have a son who is willing to donate and install a garage door if one is needed.
TJ has a possible donor of a refrigerator and stove, I have offered the use of our rollback wrecker, and a sofa and love seat, a friend is checking to see about replacing the glass in the windows and doors.
A lot of this is things that will need to be done after an assessment of the damage is done. There will also be a need for help with clean up crew and I have offered to supply some of the clean up items like rubber gloves, masks, sponges, brushes, etc. One of Rusty's neighbors had the water turned back on. Also, TJ has offered to take Rusty for an evaluation of his mental capacity and Rusty has agreed to go.
I'm asking you to put your thinking caps on and think about what you might be able to do to help. What skills do you have? Who do you know that might be willing to donate some materials? Let's put our heads together and make this project a reality!

| Thank you so much Deaglos. I wish you the best with your mother, I hope it isn't too serious. This is going to be an on going project for a while so I'm sure we can work something out with you.

We have some extra sheets for single bed size. They don't even have kiddie things on them!
We will help with clean-up. I sent a PM to TJ. We are best in the morning to get around my limitations. Maybe I can help transport someone if they need a ride. We are out in the Shannon area. Send me a note. We might be able to get more hands-on labor if we get a date arranged. Otherwise, it's the grandgirls and I. We are good for humor! ha ha ha ha ha

I don't yet know what household items he will need, I have a sofa and love seat he can have. The fire started in the livingroom and went down the hallway from what I understand but until we actually see it, there is no telling what was damaged beyond redemption. Those items will be the last on our list because we need to get clean up and rebuild done first but as soon as I know, I will let you know. Thank you so much.
Edited to mention that I think your husband must be a wonderful man and evidently there are a few of them still around. I just got a PM from another volunteer for help with the medical end and her husband for contracting work. She is going to ask him to talk to his company about offer help also.
I love it when a plan starts coming together!

Red and msla, I'm glad to have you both aboard. Once we get everything coordinated, we will let everyone know when and what time.
Red, have the person you know who will do carpentry, contact TJ and see what will be needed in that area if you would.
msla, we all need some humor and if we are to get into some really grungy clothes (I have lots of those) and work our hinies off, then we are going to need to laugh a lot.
Incidently, one of our volunteers has said she could bring some 6th graders to help with clean up. I had a beauty shop that got a lot of smoke and water damage from the barbershop next door catching fire, we did a lot of scrubbing with tooth brushes so if anyone has any old ones, they are great for getting into tiny crevices.

I've just been PM'd by another of our posters who has offered his services for carpentry, electrical, sheetrock, etc.
Praise the Lord and pass the biscuits guys, we are starting to come full circle on the planning of this project. I'm so proud to have you all as neighbors.

| I'm off to bed, where I started to go about an hour ago. Everyone have a good night and I will try to have some more info for you tomorrow. In the meantime, be thinking about what you have to offer to this project, it doesn't have to be anything big, it just needs to be heartfelt.
