I read an article about 9 years ago about a poor guy in I think Buffalo.
His kid was caught stealing a car at 13 or 14 and the father ended up with 5 days jail time for not controlling his kid.
1 year later the kid got caught by dad doing something else, so dad paddled his rear, DFACS was called even testified it was just rear, dad went before same judge and got 6 months Jail. Dad told judge to keep the friggin kid as he was d**ned if he did and d**ned if he didnt. Judge gave another 2 months for contempt.
gotta love this nice world today.
Thank goodness we haven't gotten that far here, YET. The O.C.G.A. specifically protects corporal punishment as long as it's not overly severe and/or harmful.
As for the Judge that did that, "fud u cud kud hud i mud o rud hud e rud"

Hi Spice, I too am a very spiritual person and I take the "trying to be like God" thing seriously. If I can ever get that thing down about turning folks into pillars of salt, watch out 
Not meant as a blasphemy, just a little light heartedness. I agree with your post totally

Bill, I had to go back and see what I wrote. I've had a severe pain in my left shoulder for almost two weeks now and yesterday, I gave up and went to the DR. He put me on a muscle relaxer and a pain pill. I don't take meds unless I'm forced to so when I do take them, it puts me out. Point is, I couldn't remember what I wrote but you can bet your last dollar that it was the truth because I was too drunk to lie.
My gripe is that government sticks their posterior ends into every little thing we do but will not enforce the laws that are in place to protect our country.

| I had the pleasure of being acquainted with an elderly man, whose family had given up on him due to a drinking problem. I overlooked his constant drinking, and started taking him fishing and hunting with me. he taught me how to run trot lines, place fish baskets, run a trap line, properly skin and sell pelts. he also taught me a lot about life. I can say this, I have eaten some things that most people wouldn't touch, because he felt it was a waste to kill and not eat. ( carp, possum, raccoon, snake, pigeon) As our friendship progressed, I noticed his drinking slowed down. He taught me the old ways of self reliance, and I feel I gave him a reason to curtail his habit. Now mind you, he and I would drink a beer or two while we were together, but that was a lot less than the 1+ cases he was putting away daily prior to our friendship. We continued our friendship for several years, and then i gradually lost touch with him. I was informed a couple of years later that he had died, and was actually heartbroken that I didn't get to give my respects to him. I have never failed to Honor and listen to an elderly person. If not for them, how would we learn the things that we have learned?

| Just to clairify my statement about being too drunk to write, I was referring to being drunk off the meds the doctor put me on. I am not now and never have been a heavy drinker. I cannot say that I don't drink at all because I will drink an occational glass of wine (I prefer homemade blackberry) about two or three times a year. I never developed a taste for alcohol and that is my reason for not drinking. I have been known to go in a bar with a group of friends and order a glass of milk or a cup of coffee.

| Spice, I was in no way inferring to you as a drunk. I would never say something like that. I was referring to his family giving up on him and I wouldn't because of his drinking. I myself had a drinking problem, but learned long ago that this was not the way to be. Please excuse me if I sounded as if I was calling you a drunk. FREDY

No Fredy, I re read my post and realized that it could be misconstrued that way. I didn't take any offence to your story. I too have had friends who drank too much and had no one to turn to. I have always been willing to help them as far a food, transportation, clothing, etc. I just will not buy alcohol for them. One older man had me keep his paycheck for him each week because he was afraid his "friends" would steal his money. He would come and tell me how much he needed and I would give it to him and write it down on his pay envelope. When he got his Christmas bonus, it amounted to quite a bit and all his friends and relatives would show up to help him spend it. I would give him a small amount and he would tell them that was all he had. Later, when he really needed something, the rest was in the envelope waiting for him. He was about 45 years old and looked 70. He had a rough life. He finally got where he was unable to work and moved back to TN where his brother lived.
