Can you give us some reasons to choose to vote for him?

| I've known him for several years and he is a nice , honest, help you when you call on him type of guy. He owns several businesses in Rome, and the surrounding area too. Never really heard a bad thing about him. Still waves at me in traffic too.

Yeah, I know him......his whole family, including his late father. He has worked as deputy for 20+ years, he is a successful businessman, landholder, and has given his lifes work to children at rydc, open door home, juvenile court and has sat and chaired many boards of directors. He is a Master Mason. He is one of those folks who when they ask you how you are........waits and really cares about your answer. He is honest, has a great since of humor, has morals and is going to be mine and my families vote......a real person in an important position........no someone who was grandfathered in!
GO RON!!!!

So far I have He is a nice guy, has good morals, is a successful business man. All good things.
Now I don't know how much experience the tax commissioner needs to do the job but I guess the next logical question is does Mr. Morris have any experience in the position or does the experiences you state he has help him know what the tax commissioner is supposed to do?

What would be the qualifications and/or experience needed to qualify for tax commissioner? Be a former tax commissioner? How exactly do you qualify? Is that like saying you can't get a job because you don't have experience but you can't get experience unless you can get a job? Sort of a Catch 22 situation. I never did understand how that worked.
I don't know the candidate but: successful businessman (understands economics somewhat), chaired and has on many boards (has management experience), deputy for 20+ years (shows basic understanding of how the laws work to a degree), landholder and tax Payer (exposed to the tax issues from a participants (viewpoint at-least), shouldn't these count for some of the needed requirements?
Just a viewpoint, like I said don't know the gentleman or what the position requires. Just thought I would ask.

Agreed, I was trying to promote thought and reasoning as to why we should vote any particular way. Most people could care less who is the tax commissioner and probably can't say who is the current person in the job. We need to understand what this position does and why is it important to us in order to vote the person into the position we think will do the best job. Here is the TC web site for floyd county, http://www.floydcountyga.org/Tax_Commissioner/taxcomm_home.htm.
For the record, I know Ron fairly well I believe and I have to agree that I believe him to be one of the fairest and honest men I know. I will also say that I believe he would do his best if elected.

I know Mr Morris
I can think of one reason to support Ron Morris. How about the good ole boy system.
What I mean is that wasn't it convient for Mr. Ford to hire someone a year before he retired to take his spot as commissioner. I think that should have never been allowed, but that seems to be the norm for some people in this county.
Go Ron Morris

| I was downtown the other day, the last day for qualifying for the elections, and I heard something that made me laugh. It seems that the current tax man was upset because Ron Morris had decided to run for his appointed Office. I am guessing he was upset because he thought that since he had been hand picked to take over at the tax office by the former, he would be allowed to just keep the office and run unopposed. (REMEMBER- he was appointed)I am guessing he thought the "good ole boy"system would keep him there. I am glad to see Ron Morris is running for the office. I really want to see people in office that earn it. If Ron wins I will be happy for Ron , if the other wins he will have earned it. We will know whoever gets it has earned it, and that he wasnt just chosen by good ole Jim. Good luck in your race, Ill be voting for Ron.
