Saw that on tv! We were flipping channels last night after the Rome fireworks & festivities and watched a little bit of the DC show. I know, I know, watching fireworks on tv is about as lame as it gets, but the backdrop is so spectacular--Big Abe and the Washington Monument and the river and all that. I love that city. It always makes me feel so much more in touch with our history. My husband and I vowed to get back sometime with the kiddies for a 4th celebration.

By the way--if you still have time and love books at all, go check out the Library of Congress. The prettiest inside by far.

We were HOT, and it kept raining on and off all day, so we were very happy to get back to the apartment.  After it rained, it was just like a sauna with all the people standing around.  When it got too miserable, we would go into one of the museums.

There were people sitting in front of the bandstand who were wearing suits and ties.  I don't see how they didn't fall over from heat stroke!

Hope all had a great 4th! The fireworks were great! and I ate my last hotdog yesterday! Ok.. I have an enough for a while!

The only thing that disappointed me was the Lighted Flag on the railroad trussel on 2nd Ave was not lite. Of all days I can't image why our wonderful city did not make sure the Flag was glowing! I think that is one of the most gorgeous things about the night time in Rome. I am sorry that the many tourists that visited Rome over the holidays did not have the same pleasure. Guess there is always next year!
