I don't know, I have mixed feelings about this one. If you have a problrm with someone confront them, don't put it on a public form. But by the same token a public forum can cause someone to look into it, what is wrong with that? I had to evaluate my employees up to 4 times a year. Once a year they got to do a 360 on me. Did not know whow wrote them, just questioned at my annual review. One wrote every year that I would not answer questions, I would just say to him "what would you do"? Dang he had worked there longer than me. He just did not want the responsibility. I will say this, I understand there is management problams with every company, and if was a problem wher my wife works, no one would even read it. But if there is an underlying problem at FMC it needs to be brought to light, Could be ticked off employees, could be enployees needing a change.

Enough about the manager of materials management. Not all Floyd managers are incompetent. The manager of Central Sterile has done every thing in her power to make this department a credible department. She joined Floyd around March '07 and since that time has gone out or her way to improve and organize this department. When asked about things being done wrong, she has had the reply "Well, that's the way we've always done it" There have been many roadblocks from long time employees and her director, who there seems to be no pleasing. She has given every employee the chance to get certified and earn CSPDT certification. Many have done so, some have not. She has hired technical degreed employees and has gotten rid of the "riff raff" who couldn't or didn't want to learn and do this very important job correctly. Formerly, the only requirements for being an "instrument tech" in Central Sterile was a 10th grade education! CSP is directly responsible for ensuring sterility of instruments used during surgery! In my opinion, this is a job so important that I would want someone other than a high school drop out to ensure sterility of surgical instruments used on me!!! I have confidence that if me or any of my family needs surgery at Floyd, they are getting properly sterilized instruments used in their surgery. This is all due to this manager's persistence in consistantly following the AMMI guidelines set out for the CSP department at Floyd now. This manager should be highly commended for everything she has done for this department.

As a former employee at Floyd, I can honestly say that I was always treated fairly by the managers there. Not just my manager, but all the ones I had contact with back then. MM, CSP, MR all had wonderful managers. Anyone want to discuss managers at Gordon? LOL! Last edited on Sun Jul 20th, 2008 12:23 pm by just a nobody |
