I too have heard the unfair things that the purchasing manager has had to say about her employees. I believe if a manager has a problem with an employee then he/she should only voice their opinions to that particular employee. I know that this manger in mm is not fair, polite,or understanding to her employees. I have walked into different conversations that employees were having about how unhappy they feel and have seen one person cry after getting a "lecture" from mm manager. These employees should not take this and forward their stories through the proper channels. I do feel for them.

I agree with you the purchasing manager needs to be evaluated by Kurt and find out whats going on.  She is the most unprofessional manager we have at Floyd and everybody knows how their employees get treated.  It seems like they have a great crew working for them and they quit because of her attitude towards them.  When I worked for her in the past it was the same way thats why I had to transfer out of there.

From everything that I have heard from people that work for her is that she very good at discriminating against employees that she is not "buddies" with. I graduated with a BS degree in management. My question is does she have any formal management training because everything that I have heard of this person is the total opposite of what was taught to me. Another question is the person that is over the MM manager not concerned with the problems within this department and the repercussions that could occur if this lady is allowed to continue to treat the employees in this manner. I have even heard of times when instances of sexual harassment have been brushed under the table by her because it was one of her golden boys. I hope this forum will raise the eye brows of the CEO.
She acts like the new guy is golden to her.  I have seen them together off the clock several times in her personal vechile. Me being a manager will never carry on a personal realitionship with an employee. That is the same one I saw her with in the hall that day talking s**t about employees and she thought it was funny.  Very unprofessional. Your manager is someone you should trust and they should help you grow instead of making you feel like dirt.

Shouldn't something at least be able to be done about this type of behavior.  From what I know, Floyd if notorious for giving management jobs to the most unqualified people they can find most of the time but this brings the problems to a whole different level like sexual harassment lawsuits. This is way past just unprofessional behavior.

You are very right.  Something needs to be done.  The proper channels have been contacted and nothing has been done.  More drastic measures are in order but I am not sure what those could be.  The employees in materials management have suffered enough through her "reign of terror".  I am open to hear any suggestions that anyone may have.

OK... lets not name names here and lets make sure this thread does not get personal.

I understand there are concerns however, this is not the place to seek revenge. Lay out the concerns but please leave out the personal stuff.

thanks!

It is very sad that floyd employees have to use this forum to get anything done there about problem management.  It just goes to show you that upper mgmt doesn't give a flip about the little guy until it becomes a public relations issue.

the ems thread did not get the FMC attention until violations were reported that could have cost the hospital a service area, thereby costing them money...........................................................................

I'm not sure you'll have the same success with materials management........

I, myself, have witnessed sexual harassment by this young manand heard him say "If you tell, I'll tell her it's lies and she will turn around and fire you".  The young lady that this happened to was afraid to go and tell her superiors for that very reason.  As much as it pains me, I'm not in a position where I can openly address.  Hell, if I wasn't so rebellious in the first place, I wouldn't even be talking about this for fear of my own job being on the line.  I just can't sit idly by and watch this sort of thing continue with nothing done about it.

This particular employee had been complained about prior to him being hired on full time.  He was doing this then and nothing was done and he is still doing it now.  This whole thing with her playing favorites to her employees has got to stop.  I am going to snap on day and tell her how I feel and surely lose my job.  Please help the MM employees!

For the material management department employees. Looks like one of four choices.  Sue the hospital for harrassment/discrimination, quit, fix it from within or put up with it. Unlike the EMS issue, this is not a public safety concern and I doubt you will find much help from the outside.  Just my opinion.

I would assume purchasing/stocking supplies that the hospital uses such as sheets, forms, pens, toilet paper, instruments, wheelchairs, beds and the thousand other things needed for daily operation.

Materials management is the department that everything coming into the hospital must go through from the band-aides to the high priority items needed for surgery. Nothing comes into this hospital that they don't have hands on. Would you put the least qualified person over seeing what is needed to save your life or a member of your family in an emergency. They have a great group workers in that department I would not mind having some of them working for me after all they did win department of the year last year and I would bet that is was not because of the manager over the department is was because of good employees doing the best possible job in a hostile uncaring environment.

They are probably one of the most important groups in this hospital. They keep it all running smoothly. Without them nobody here would have what they need to do there jobs from the CEO to the EMTs. They are the heart that pumps the much needed blood.

What about prescriptions.  Are they ordered through this department?
