I don't know if everyone knows this but any business has the right to refuse service. Going to wal-mart or any other business is not a right. They can tell you that they don't need your business. My brother was manager at one of the popular restaraunts in town and they exercised this right with overbearing customers that didn't know how to act in polite company. Everyone should think about that when they think they have the right to harass anyone in customer service such as servers, checkers, greeters, etc. How embarassing would that be to have to tell your friends that you are banned from Wal-Mart. LOL.

Deaglos: I agree that it is rude to block the customer's passageway, however, I think we'll just have to agree to disagree on the manner of our responses. I do want to point out that you may be overlooking part of a Wal-Mart greeter's job duties. One of their responsibilites is to "greet," therefore giving a very large expansive chain like Wal-Mart, a localized, hometown touch. All that chit-chat about "lost loves, church news, and other garbage," is exactly one of the reasons that Wal-Mart employs greeters in the first place. I agree with you, though, that it shouldn't adversely affect other customer's pathways. Last edited on Mon Jun 30th, 2008 02:48 pm by Wild H Woman |

LOL. oh no!! so i'd have to go to kroger or kmart, or food lion, or GMC, or heaven forbid.....one of the other 3 wal-marts within easy driving distance. but hey, if wally world is ballsy enough to refuse service, let them. no problems here since there are so many other options. i mean hell.....what are they going to do.......take my picture when they ban me and fax the mug shot to every wal-mart in a 50 mile radius telling them to refuse service to me??? LMFAO i'd like to see them try. Last edited on Mon Jun 30th, 2008 02:53 pm by mookie3127 |

What ever happened to the day where the door greeter ACTUALLY greeted you??? That was what the position was originally intended for. I should not be made to feel like a criminal every time I leave the store. That is part of the reason why Wal_mart has become the antichrist. It's a far cry from Sam Walton created (rolls over in his grave).

LOL. Although you are trying to hide it, I can tell that you are very worried about the prospect of being banned from Wal-Mart. Just the fact that you would try to sneak in another Wal-Mart 50 miles away betrays your fear. Relax mookie, I've never heard of it happening. I'm just saying that it could if you don't behave. Wal-mart is probably too greedy to ban anyone except shoplifters.

I had to share: It's been 2920+ days since I darkened the door of any Wal-Mart or Sam's Club in any city. Just got sick of what they represent--overconsumerism, poor customer service, poor labor practices. Have a funny story to share about my last ever trip there--will wait for a late night. I fear once I've joined y'all will get sick of me posting my 2 cents everywhere. As if I needed another way to procrastinate writing my column! By the way, has anyone else noticed that there is no longer a "cents" symbol on a keyboard? When did that happen?

If they can handle my 2 cents everywhere, they can handle yours. If we put them together and someone can throw in a penny, we'll have a nickle and that won't buy us anything. Again, Welcome!

Welcome Jess. I never saw a door greeter until after 9/11. Why? Why would I walk in there with a brief case or small suit case? I do not know what their job description is, but I would be looking for such things. Got a lot of folks in WW, and Sams. You are only paranoid when people want to kill you.
