RomeNewswire has learned that a long time Roman is considering a run as an Independent candidate for the County Commission seat held by Incumbent Garry Fricks. This decision comes in light of recent developments where Frick was arrested in Gordon County for a suspended license and other charges.

According to officials at the Floyd County Elections Office, this run would require signatures of 5% of Floyd County's registered voters, or just over 2,000 signatures. This petition would have to be turned in by the middle of July.

With time ticking down for a possible run to be viable, we could see an announcement soon.

One surprise, this potential candidate comes from Fricks' own party.

Show me the candidate and let me make sure it isn't another Frick but with a different set of problems. I don't know enough about anyone around here but am willing to listen to the discussion before I make a decision.

Why not?  Would you be scandalous riding around town with an inflatable doll on the back of the scooter with no license?

I understand Fricks was driving on a suspended license since 2001, no proof of insurance, and improper transfer of license plate. He only lives a few steps away from the tag office!  If that were anyone else, they would have been arrested before now. I don't appreciate anyone that is in any form of government using my tax dollars, especially in my own community. He was an elected offical and should know better. My tag was expired only a few days and I was pulled over and questioned. What's up with Fricks getting a so called free ride for so long? Thats all I have to say about that! :X

Also, while visiting Kangaroo Jake's for the umpteenth time today, I read your letter from the editor about the scooter and getting the finger.  I have to commend you.  If you went 61 miles and that thing only goes 35 miles an hour, you chugged around for almost 2 hours.  I dont think I have the patience for that.  Although, I am usually riding around with 2 kids fighting or nagging in the backside.  Maybe the wind (very slowly) blowing through my hair is what I need :)

While I agree, I will point out that the tag was not expired that long, just his license.  The truck was supposedly a new purchase.  How do you not know that long?  I was thinking earlier about that and maybe someone can help me.  I know the DMV now offers longer periods of time before your license expire.  4 years or 8 years maybe?  Anyone know?  Isnt that relatively new though?  If I am correct and that was not offered in 2001, wouldnt those 2001 license that were suspended now be expired anyway?  Even the benefit of the doubt would put them expiring in 2005.  How do you not know?  Its something we all do.  We either go down there and pluck a flipping number or get it through the mail.  The fact that he tried to give his county card is what ticks me off.  I would love to see the licence he finally handed over to see the expiration date on them.

I agree with you.  I thought you were implying he had no tag since 2001 also.  It was obvious he thought it wasnt necessary because he had his county card that he learned gordon county didnt give a rat's behind about.

hehe.
