Red, I got home Tuesday PM and had a message on my phone from a Darlene (I think) from RNT. She said she wanted to clarify some things that I said at the meeting. Well seeing as how I didn't go to the meeting I quickly called her back and when I told her I wasn't even at the meeting she explained to me that the commissioners were under the impression that I was the one holding up the sign. She asked if I had emailed the commisioners and I told her I had.  She said I probably wouldn't hear from them because they thought they had spoken with me at the meeting.  Just wanted thought this was kinda funny.

When I was in service out in California I recieved a speeding ticket went to court and was suppose to attend a class and pay $45 or just pay $140. I agreed to the class. Due to military obligations on the days of the class I did not attend it. I did not think any thing else about it. To my surprise Calif. did not forget and had a warrant for my arrest if I did not take care of the ticket. This warrant was mailed to me. Needless to say I payed the ticket immediately. It went from $140 to $400. So was there not a warrant for his arrest from the previous problem, or since it was 7 years later I guess that statuet law took affect?

Why would you be surprized or laugh that our government forces Thousands of people to drive ( regardless if they are drunk drugged up, unlicensed, underaged, overaged/gone half blind, or whatever) because they have no alternative when they must get somewhere.

The County Commission used to be called rhe "BOARD OF ROADS AND REVENUES because their job was to help provide public transportation (NOT TO BE TEARING DOWN PRIVATE HOMES they find unsatisfactory.) When they fail to perform their duty and provide for Public Transportation they commit the crime of FORCING les than perfect drivers to drive because they have no alternative to driving.

Are you not aware we have NO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION to speak of??? Even in Rome the buses stop at ~6 PM, NONE ON WEEKENDS or Holidays? And none at all in the county. And the average person cannot pay exorbitant cab fare--~$30. for a short round trip?? Even high priced gas is cheaper than cabs!!!

What? Did you think we still had regular greyhounds? Trailways? Train stations all over the county like we once had????

When that commission (what was the Board of Roads and Revunes) whose duties as to transportation are expanded because roads are no longer sufficient but transportation now, and hereafter MUST MEAN MASS TRANSIT of various types, fails in that PUBLIC duty for the reason they are too involved in PRIVATE BUSINESS, like tearing down PRIVATE HOMES ( often so other PRIVATE PERSONS CAN REDEVELOPE THE AREA FOR THEIR PRIVATE PROFIT)  government then commits  at least 2 main  crimes:

(1) Forcing people to drive, even if drunk, half blind, unlicensed...Because of the failure to provide PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, and

(2) Invading, unlawfully searching and seizing, and taking or destroying PRIVATE PROPERTY and robbing citizens of both liberty and property.

It is a crime that governments which do not competently handle PUBLIC business invade our PRIVATE homes to micro-manage our building maintenance. It would be a crime for them to invade the private sphere  even if they could handle the public business well but it is even worse when they fail to take care of public matters.

And as we see, government officials often cannot even manage their own PRIVATE BUSINESS! HOW DARE THEY COME TELLING US WHATE TO DO IN OUR PRIVATE HOMES AND BUSINESS,

I have to disagree! The Govt does not force anyone to drive. Public Transportation is great but the govt can not always solve everyone's problems. What ever happened to personal responsibility?

RGS, I can't take you seriously with that bowtie. The headgear is a laugh, but those eyebrows are a fearsome sight! They scare me.

So the government is forcing people to drive drunk and be generally irresponsible??????Then at the same time the government is spending millions on anti-drinking campaigns across the state? geezzz

Bless you.  I agree.  Fricks could have gone on the bottom half of page one, but I like the special children on the upper half.

They force no one to drive.  If a person gets drunk and loses his license that was what he chose to do.   Driving is a privelege not a right.

Public transportation was the primary way that folks moved around back in the day but has been replaced by private automobile for all transport other than for huge distances.  Even with all the folks in public housing because they can not afford to pay rent or purchase a home existing local bus usage is minimal because they choose to own a car instead.

Serpentfoot, you have intelligence....I've seen it......but you really need to join us in the new millenium.

I respect that you have the courage to stand up for what you believe in. Maybe next time you will speak too. I did not intend to go but decided too and they let me speak after I signed in although I was not on the agenda--sometimes they will and sometimes they won't. It all depends on how much they have on the agenda. If nobody else is speaking they'll usually let you without you giving them prior notice because they do want to look like that what they do is important enough for the public to be interested in what they do.
