yeah, horseleg and saddle mountain...........................so long as you have a white friend you'll be okay.............................................but drive through there without one, and try using their lingo, like "Yes Sir, No Ma'am, thank you and please", and they'll see through your smokescreen and beat you down....

I have been in two situations like that......when a friend of mine that is a day older than me turned thirteen we got two other guys together and decided we would walk to the Teen Club from the Piggy Wiggly in North Rome..... we took the closest route which took us through the housing projects there close to the teen club.....after we passed the last set of projects there were about 15 or 20 blacks about 17 or 18 years of age and they were pitching this little black boy say around 8 or 9 years old back a forth to each other and he was crying. Once they saw us they put the little boy down....they split up ....half went around the projects going to cut us off ....the other half started to walk towards us..... we knew that if they caught us they were going to do to us what they were doing to the little black boy......so we decided to turn around and run as hard as we could ...all except this guy I told you was a day older than me said I'm not running..... the rest of us didn't argue with him we took off.....I looked back and he had changed his mind about no running......they were catching up to him so he saw this older black couple sitting on the porch and went running up to them screaming like a little girl... Help Me, Help Me. Then there was a time when I was taking a girl friend home we were on Dean St so I went over and down the hill..... after crossing Maple St. going down East 12 th St.there was trash can across 12 th St. blocking both lanes so I hit the gas...... about the time I did this a black guy runs out from behind the building to the right of me......and throws a brick aimed at my windshield the brick went over the top of my truck..... I think he missed the truck because he had to dodge the trash cans that were hit by my truck. So I have been there and done that. Last edited on Sat Jun 21st, 2008 08:33 pm by ronron |

Move the cemetery or the pool? We could buy 100 more Rome Transit Authority golf carts for the price of either one of those options. Last edited on Sat Jun 21st, 2008 10:19 pm by stoker |

I am certain that the users of this pool will treat it with the same respect that they treat all other property provided for/to them by a Government agency, at gratis or reduced fees.

I saw the picture of it on the front page of the paper today and that little boy looked like he was having soo much fun, so i packed my little ones in the car and we had a super fun time there. There were quite a few kids at first but i think they were a camp or something, and the counselors helped to keep them in order. Right when we got there i already knew it was a great family environment. The lady at the window was so nice and cheerful, it made us feel very welcome. My 5 year old son even commented to me "daddy that lady was nice!" There is a cool fountain that my kids absolutely loved, but the slide is the best part! I even went down it a few times. As for the lifeguards, they were also very friendly and informative, they did not seem intimidated at all, i had my little girl up on my shoulders and one young woman asked nicely for me to put her down and explained why the rule was in place... but don't take her for timid at all because a few minutes later she was blowing her whistle and putting children in time out for running around the pool deck. By the way if that is what you call a bad area of town you should take a visit to Atlanta sometime. Maybe a little more open-mindedness about other people's cultures wouldn't hurt either.

I work in the home health industry, and I am in the South Rome area of town quite frequently. I have even been to areas like Reservoir, Green and Gold, etc. I have never had one single problem with any of the people I encounter in any of these areas. I was, at first, very apprehensive about going to these areas alone, especially getting called out at 4 a.m. to go see a patient, but now, I do not even think twice about it. I am always treated very kindly, just as I treat those with whom I come in contact with. It's seriously by the way not "serouisly".............. see why we don't play the English Teacher game???????????? and why would ronron, the one who incorrectly used "your" be a racist???????????
