No it was Amsouth then, which is now Regions, and I realize it was the bank's fault this happened but still I kinda thought he could have handled it differently and made sure which customer he was to talk to before asking 3 other groups.  Those people I'm sure thought I didn't have the funds in my account which I did.  I wanted to crawl under the table.

OOOOooooOOOO Don't get me started on NWGCU!!!! My hubby and I made a large purchase at Toys are Us. We KNEW we had plenty of $$ in the bank. It took the card with no problem.

We got out to our car and decided on another large purchase we had been "thinking" about getting also. It took our card with no problem again.

That night we went out to eat. Our card was denied. Luckily we also had cash on us.

We checked our balance at the NWGCU main branch and again we had PLENTY of $$ but it said to call our bank for any info.

Unfortunately it was a weekend. We called Monday a.m. and the bank said "Oh! You made two large purchases 10 mins. apart and we thought your card must've been stolen so we put a red flag on your card until we could speak with you".

WTH?????????

That's just one example. We've had a couple of more issues with the card also. Machine down, updating, blah blah.:X

Prices on some items are ridiculous. Last time we were there the wings were also $8.99 for a dozen. Their wings are definitely not worth $8.99.

People are going to quit eating out so much with the high gas prices, etc.  Whoever is in charge needs to take a look at the quality of the food and prices before customers start going elsewhere to get better quality food for a lower price.  The bookkeeper answers to someone, why is that someone letting him do this?

People are probably going to quit eating out period. Or, as much. Between food prices rising and gas we may not have a choice.:?

JustMe,
I will have to agree.  With the rising fuel prices we are going to see a great change in the habits of the American public.  You are going to start seeing people walking to easily accessible locations to eat out or to even make purchases of goods and groceries.  There will be a point that the average person is not going to be able to jump in the car just to go get a sack of Krystal’s or a Big Mac because it will cost three times more for the fuel than the item purchased.

I have had something similar happen to me with an American Express card while traveling, and while it is embarrassing, I feel better knowing that someone is looking for suspicious card activity.  At least with a credit card there is some recourse, but once somene uses your debit card illegally, your money is gone.

Also, when "the system is down" isn't that usually an issue with the processor and not the actual bank or credit union?

Actually, if someone debits your debit card illegally, your money is not gone.  You just have to file with the bank that you didn't make the charges and they send it through fraud protection to try and find out who did it so they can prosecute and you get the money credited back in usually a week.  BUT you have to get a new debit card.  This has happened to me twice!

NWGACU is the worst banking institution in the area when it comes to customer service and their debit/atm/credit card........................................the card has gotten a little better over the years, but I got tired of trying to figure out at which stores I should use debit, which ones were credit and which ones couldn't get it to work at all......I also got tired of every time I would hand a vendor my card, they'd roll their eyes and say "I hope it works"............

..........................................................I will say this also, if you're a member of NWGCU, I suggest you go out of your way to use the Dean STreet branch...................................................I'm not sure if they train the main branch people to be rude, or if it's a prerequisite to get the job, but it's definitely one of the two...........................................................

Ditto RG!! In fact, the place we went to eat said, "This is the 3rd card today like this one that didn't work".

I found the one on Dean Street MUCH friendlier also. ;)

I did have a odd experience with NWGCU on Redmond. That's why I'd rather use the one on Dean St..

Well, I went to deposit a check. The ENTIRE check. Wasn't asking for $$ back. The account at NWGCU is in his name only. We have a joint account in another bank. It just makes it easier for me to pay bills out of two accounts.

Anyway, the girl at the drive-thru was already into it with a customer at the other drive-thru.

When I deposited the check she said "We'll mail you the receipt". I said "huh"? She said "We have to mail it out because you aren't on this account". It's not so much WHAT she said, but HOW she said it. I only said "huh" because I didn't really understand what she said thru that speaker!

She said "It's our policy". I said "OK! I understand policy's, but since I AM the banker in our family and the bill payer I'll just open the deposit slip when it comes in OUR mailbox." I drove off leaving her mouth open.;)

Have gone to Dean Street ever since. Guess what? They give me a deposit slip and have NEVER said anything about it. Always a smile and small conversation! God bless Dean St. branch! He don't like ugly!!:P
