He plays tennis with us downtown sometimes, if you want to catch a glimpse just come by the tennis center on a Monday or Tuesday night and look...you might spot the running man outside of his normal habitat. His name is Peter by the way and he's a very nice guy. Also, speaking of ru san's...we used to take trips to kennessaw just to eat at Ru's and I know many people that are ecstatic about the opening in Rome. I believe the business will thrive. I also love the fact that I'll be able to turn right out of my driveway and be sitting down in 5 minutes. Saki bomb!

Well, my wife and I went to Rusan's for lunch on Sunday to find out that they are in fact not open yet. Bummer. We got our fix from Kroger though. HEHEHEH Rusan's did have a sign up stating that they will be opening soon and that their business license is being processed. I guess the manager I spoke to expected it to be complete by now. I've since heard a rumor that the city of Rome is delaying the opening due to parking. If this is true, I would think this is something that would have been addressed long ago. Maybe while the building was being constructed. Added to this rumor is there is some kind of monument that must be moved in order to open more area for parking. Some special interest group (again, this could just be a rumor) is fighting the movement of the monument which is adding to the delay. I'm not sure what monument they are talking about as I've not noticed anything special over there (other than Rusan's anyway LOL). I really hope this is not the case. If so, its very dissapointing and just adds to my opinion of things around here. Must everything in Rome be a monument? I've seen less in D.C. LOL. In reply to whomever said that the roads out of Rome are not closed, trust me, I know and I hit them as often as I can. I also travel the country, very often, north, south, east and west (truthfully, the north has really taken southern hospitality away from us). I've lived in Rome for 9 years now, moving here because of a great job opportunity. While Broad St does have its highlights, for us, sitting on a bench isn't one of them. And, odd enough as it is, the only people that I've been able to have conversations with were not even from Rome. Every since I moved here, the one thing I've noticed is that if people around here don't know you from birth, or didn't go to school with you, they really don't want to know you. Many others I know have said the same thing. So, at least, that's given me some peace of mind knowing that its not just me. Unfortunately, even hanging around the "hotspots" for quite some time just didn't work out and ended up boring and expensive.

I've lived here all my life, and I can't think of anybody I've ever met that moved here that hasn't loved it. I was shopping on Broad St. earlier and everybody I approached (customers or sales ppl) have spoken and said good morning or smiled. I have new friends that moved here from up north and said they'll never go back. They love the southern hospitality here. We've met ppl that moved here back when Katrina hit louisiana (how ever you spell it lol) and they decided to stay and love it. We love meeting new ppl. Not everyone here is that way, but most are.

I going to have to agree somewhat with RomeisaJoke, but then I'm used to large cities rather than towns, prettier country in most cases, more to do in an area closer to home and much more diversity overall. As for the southern hospitality, I haven't noticed that much of a difference in hospitality between here and "up north" or anywhere else I've lived, and that covers a pretty wide range of locations. Additionally, as far as city planning and growth goes, Rome seems way behind the curve in a lot of areas. JMO though, didn't mean it to be derogatory before anyone takes offense.
