Maybe instead of bashing sushi, you should give it a try.  Its healthy and God knows Romans need as much help as possible with this.  And, it just may introduce a little bit of culture into your lives.  Give it a shot, you may just surprise yourselves.

No thanks! I'm one of those picky eaters. I hardly ever try new things, and if it looks weird (like those things in the case of water with all the feet) no way!!

My heavens. Quite a soapbox you've got there.

I wouldn't call it a soap box.  Its more along the lines of just being fed up with the blatant ignorance in this "city".  Maybe if people around here would put as much time into learning to drive as they do bashing what they don't know or understand we'd all be a lot safer.  That's my soap box.  HEHEHEH

I will try your Sushi, if you will try my boiled okra sandwich. Speaking as one who moved here after 35 years in Atlanta, and many extended visits around the USA, I find the people in Rome quite refreshing. I love that my neighbors wave and people on the sidewalks say good morning when we pass on the street. I love that I can wear my jeans to an event if I wish and be assured that there will be others there in jeans also. I love that people are not afraid to talk to you sitting on a bench at the mall or walking through the grocery store, I love that from the first week that I lived in the area, neighbors were willing to offer a hand to a complete stranger. In short, I really love this place.

Amen, Spice! I moved from the "big city" to Rome about 8 years ago, and even though I know I'll be "new in town" even if I live here the rest of my days, I'll always consider Rome my home!

I love that if you spend 30 minutes sitting on the iron bench on the corner of Broad & 5th you'll see at least 2 people pass by whom you know.

I love that it's harder to find a parking space in our historic downtown than in our sorry excuse for a mall.

I love that if I mention the "running man" to a group of 10 people, 7 out of those 10 will know who I mean.

I love that we have numerous stone steps around town that lead up to nowhere.

I love that anyone will stop and have a conversation with you anytime, and if you talk long enough you'll find that your circles overlap and you know some of the same people.

I love that if you have a problem and you show up at a city commmission meeting, they'll try their best to listen and show respect for your issue.

I love that when a new restaurant opens, people notice. It generates a buzz, for good or bad.

I love that the owner of our movie theaters cares enough about the town to offer Pop'N'Corn every summer, even though it doesn't really make money.

I love our trails.

I love taking my sons to get their hair cut at Forrest Barber Shop and listening to the old guys talk.

I also love sushi, and I was planning to go to RuSan's, but not because it's been suggested that I "try something new." It's not new.

Hmm I moved to Rome as it is litterally in the middle of just about everything you could want with Atlanta not far Chattanooga close by too.

Personally I have seen Rome grow alot in the six years I have been here, and not to everyones liking.  But if you really hate Rome that much, I would point out that the Road is not blocked and you are free to leave at any time.

Edited to add that Rome can not support a more diverse eating menu, and yes many of the pallettes here would not understand them.

But there are many here that do, and we have our few places we go for that food.

Otherwise we do travel and it gives us a good reason to go visit friends.

Just so you know, I have tried Sushi on several occations. I still don't care for it and never cared for lox and bagels either. My daughter and sons all loved Sushi, I always taught them to try things before you say you don't like them. I would never force them to eat something they did not like but I did expect them to try them. They like artichokes, oysters on the halfshell, etc.

And, although I like boiled okra, I have never tried it in a sandwich.

SOOOO Excited!!! I'm hoping that its  good quality! I am a big sushi buff , I just moved here a few months a go for Birmingham where I had many choices on sushi restaurants  to Rome where there is no decent ones. We did try Sumo and it was  a TERRIBLE experience the sake and Japanese beer  is overpriced the service was awful and the sushi  was not fresh and GROSS:shock:. So i am thrilled  that they are opening!!  yayyyy

If you are in need of a quick sushi fix... try the new sushi bar at Kroger... Fresh, low priced and pretty good for a grocey store. When the chef is working, you can order what ever you want. Other times, the sushi is in the cooler.

Love me some fish bait. I understand why fish can be cannibalistic.

Where has the running man been?  Haven't seen him in a while.
