I heard that same comment from someone visiting our office earlier today.
I replied to the ad on behalf of RNW. I wanted to confirm the location and let them know who we were in case they needed to advertise.
I did not get a response, and the ad has now been removed.
After a brief google search, it does appear that the top item found is a Baja club closing in Baltimore. http://www.bizjournals.com/baltimore/stories/2008/02/11/daily17.html
Additionally, it appears there was some controversy regarding some type of micro-chip implantation to keep up with your bar tab. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=38038

it got smaller but its not really new
some bigger casino's in nevada used patches at the clubs for a long time in the richer sections. Guests would come in get a secure patch that would be on the back of the hand it links to the casino's comupters that are linked to the banks.
They would put in a limit on the charges for the night and had free reign until the limit was reached.
oder drink wave hand under reader no worries about money or cards.

That is very interesting. I had never heard of this before until you told me. Learn something new every day. Thanks.

| You youngans. Rome has had wet T shirt contest before. . There used to be a club on Shorter that held a few, can't remember the name now. In the 70's. Had good live bands, used to have a fuzzy duck club, Rome used to have some good clubs for teens and older teens, now they hang out in parking lots.

Not that i'd go to them, but I wish we had more clubs and stuff in rome. Seems like it would be good for the local economy with the extra income from taxes and all. And not to mention the additional business it would bring to other businesses (like ihop and waffle houses, lol).
Considering that broad street decaying, and despite the city's efforts (just think of all the money that has been and is being wasted on it) nothing will revive the downtown businesses. Downtown shopping is TERRIBLE! The only thing people go to broad street for is entertainment and food. Why not make broad street and "entertainment district" (i read that in the paper once, not my words). But a few clubs on broad street, make it worth something. Instead of throwing millions away on painting buildings, hoping that it will bring in new businesses. People just dont do "downtown shopping" anymore, people want to go to malls and walmarts.
