Whoa !!!! Don't even go there with me on board..I'll say this much...if polkmom is a member of CCB..I am not aware of it...AND....Furthermore...CCB would have her for breakfast as well based on all the posts I have read by PolkMom...AND....Police, Fire, and EMS bashing is only accepted when they deserve it..and we all know that there are times...such as this...when some of them deserve it.....I see no need to drag CCB into it...there are diverse members on CCB just as there are on RNW...
I agree that the way things were handled were unprofessional...and something needs to be done...but dogging CCB and insinuating that all CCB members are like Polkmom...is just wrong!

Exactly..................Floyd county folks dropped what they were doing and headed that way, they didn't make phone calls to "see if they were needed"..........Floyd county folks have been out there for the past 10 days helping Floyd AND Polk victims.....................Polk county had one firefighter volunteer his time...............THAT young man should seek employment elsewhere, before the "they don't pay me 'nuff" attitude takes hold.......................Also heard today that several Chattooga volunteer firefighters were there within 90 minutes of the tornado touching down.................
So thanks to the public safety members of Polk County for doing just as much as Chattooga county volunteer firefighters did for the citizens of Polk County...................................Kenny, you need to get off your tail and do something, otherwise Polk will be your dead end.......You should know as a long time police officer that JUST because you and your buddies stand around and talk about how I don't know what I"m talking about or how there was nothing else you could do DOESN'T MAKE IT SO.................
Am I to believe that Scotty Hancock provided ample assistance to Floyd AND Polk because he gets paid more than Polk EMA? Mrs. Anderson's salary is about $20 per hour, anyone else here making that??????????????????? Mrs. Anderson's salary is a waste.

The "Keep Polk Beautiful" Organiazation has started to assist in the help with the individuals to clean up thier private properties. They had one clean up last Saturday and probably have more planned. If you would like to help contact;
Funny, FRL88 and several more were out there all day Saturday and there was no one there from this so called organization. Besides they still need recovery help at the turners, no one is even thinking about making it beautiful again yet. Oh yeah, Floyd County folks will be back this weekend, lets see how many polk county folks are there. Oh yeah and by the way Polk mom, every one from floyd county also has full time jobs also. Most of them have 2 jobs and work 60+ hours a week. I personally had just gotten off that morning from my 2nd job and did not even sleep, you are a stay at home mom and has not even so much as offered to feed the poor folks. Go figure, just like a self centered snob. And i also suggest you keep comments about RNW to yourself as well.

Another Polk County EMA Director Elaine Anderson Excuse: "I hadn't had a weekend off in 3 months..............My husband and I have to keep the EMA building open for Emory Lifeflight to have training...." So is this strenuous???? Does Mrs. Anderson and her husband have to stand on one leg and hold the door open for the entire weekend????????? Does it take two of them to "keep the building open"?????? I could care less what they do in that building UNLESS it is later used as an excuse for inaction during a real crisis...........................so that leads me to ask WHY is it that the EMA director is available to use public buildings for training held by a private, for-profit organization???? (Emory Lifeflight is owned by Air Methods Corporation, a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ)............and just who is attending this FREE (it better be free because I know Air Methods isn't receiving profit for training given in a public building) training EVERY weekend for three months?????????? Are the Polk EMS folks THAT highly trained that they receive All weekend training EVERY weekend for three months? or could it be that this training is being given to folks for profit from out of county??????????????
If Polk EMA Director Elaine Anderson finds it so important to provide this building for Emory Lifeflight training EVERY weekend, with her and her husband's presence being necessary, one would think that she MIGHT find it necessary to be present during the days and weeks following a tornado with death, injury and property damage..........wouldn't you?
Lastly, if she didn't find it necessary to return to Polk following this tragedy, why does she find it necessary for her AND her husband to be at the EMA building EVERY weekend for 3 months while training is being held by Emory Lifeflight????? Why is one more important than the other?????????? OH< and did Emory Lifeflight suspend training this past weekend while they were out of town, or did she get a volunteer to open and watch the building during the training ? (the same training that requires her and her husband's constant presence, and thereby causes them to be too badly in need of a vacation to help the Turner family)
Public safety management folks can be the most demanding and critical of all management, especially when compared with the private sector....................they give no room for excuses, no room for error, no room for honest mistakes....................yet it seems they always rally around one another when THEY don't live up to the same standard.......................Wonder why the Turners haven't piped up to talk about the overwhelming support they've received from Polk? OH YEAH!!!!!! Because "things were happening that they didn't know about".............
Can you imagine the nerve?????? Your wife is killed in a tornado, you are in the hospital.......you get out and ask "why didn't y'all do anything for my family?".....and the Polk EMA answer is "we did, you just don't know about it"

Do you ever really have anything to say or do you just take up space here? I think that the point is that we here seem to have a great county. Maybe we do have more resources and such than Polk. But I wish that you would quit whining and just accept that things should have been done in a different way. I can say that I feel very ashamed that I have not been able to stay there in teh affected area and help. However, I have made donations that included $ and other items. No I don't have much to give but I guess it's all in the actions. I have always heard actions speak louder than words. And in this situation I can see loud and clear.

Just spoke with a member of the Turner family..............................they spoke with everyone who helped Saturday, and this is what he said.................................in the early a.m., it was all family............a gentleman from Gordon County who has been a victim of a tornado and volunteers regularly with tornado victims, who had been there all week, was there next with heavy equipment...........he also commented that "this would never happen in Gordon County" (referring to the abandonment of the family by Polk officials)..........then a busload full of Floyd county volunteers showed up followed by several on four wheelers and FRL 88 in his truck at about 9:30...........All of the bus members and four-wheeler people were floyd county folks except for a mother/daughter team from Alabama who volunteer with Floyd EMA, the remainder were EMA, sheriff, police officials and volunteers, ALL floyd county.....................don't forget, this is the polk county family on polk county property.......He said the Floyd County Sheriff actually spent a couple of hours there searching the property with grid search teams (all from Floyd County)................and the Floyd EMA director Scotty Hancock showed up (he also says that Hancock told him at the beginning of the week that the family could eat and receive donated supplies at the Floyd County Command Post, he had NOTHING but great things to say for Hancock)................a few friends of the deceased's daughter, who is a teacher, showed up a few minutes later...................................and at 3:00 P.M., the polk county fire fighter showed up and helped (they insisted that I ensure to make clear they are not downing this fire fighter and they appreciated deeply everything he did)..........................................................Other than that there was a news team or two, including RNW, but NO ONE from Polk County, other than the one firefighter stopped by to help, check on them, and that he actually received the information that the area had been declared a disaster area from FLOYD county officials..............the day that it is declared a disaster area, they are not contacted AT ALL by Polk Officials........................................That is his recollection of the day...
SO, PolkMom, do you think the above is acceptable action by Polk, is this Turner family representative a liar or do you think someone screwed up????? I guess your only other alternative would be to say that they received help, but they just don't know about it (like Polk officials have said ).....................maybe Polk officials snuck out there at night and planted corn. I will wait in stitches for your answer................................

Maybe there were other families that asked for and received help.
I won't apologize for not being there in the flesh since I do have young children, and I hardly think a tornado site is where they need to be. But not a one of you knows who did what to provide support, by donating money, etc. You people are a class act. I never said one thing to defend, only to say that no one has all of the information on which to base their accusations. It's really pathetic because I'm guessing you're like the ones sitting on the front row at church with the big ol' "Christian" nametag on that judge others.
So, I'm not interested in going around and around with a bunch of holier-than-thou people .. fact is, you don't really know what you'd do if you were in the shoes of anyone directly involved. Fact is, you weren't in control, and there seems to be good reason. If you really have something to say, I'd suggest you address to the person directly and sign your name so they can discuss with you personally. But then again, talking behind their backs on a public board is way more fun.
