Has anyone seen the Rome News Tribune today? They have ALWAYS charged for classifieds, and always charged a fortune for them. Suddenly on the weekend that RomeNewswire print edition is due out (with free classifieds) they roll out new "free classifieds" for merchandise under 100 dollars... Are they scared? It is obvious that they take us seriously!

So is the 'new media' an anonymous forum on a computer where the authors have little responsibility to be competely accurate in what they write. Please don't get me wrong, I think Newswire has certainly provided a service to the community, but it's awfully easy for the vast majority of posters to get on here, contribute 'tips' or comments and sneak back into their holes. I understand that a lot of people here are well known and do use their names, but a large number do not. The 'traditional media' can and certainly does use anonymous sources but the reporter generally needs to know who that person is so that their credibility can be determined. Would some of those ambulance drivers have been so quick to comment for the record in the RN-T, or have their voices be used in a soud byte on radio. Probably not. No one said that the forum was the media. What you don't know ugottabekidding is that Jerry knows who a lot of us are because we have let him know and he can confirm his sources for his media. "RomeNewswire.com" Also a lot of people have made themselves available to Jerry to quote if he needs too. You can be assured that he checks his information prior to print.

I was raised to not believe anything you read, and only half of what you see. I thought Custer was a hero, till I got to college. I love this medium. Even the big boys are loosing revnue and having to cut back. Jerry is on the cutting edge here. Glad I sold my buggy whip man. stock.

Besides in todays world where people are afraid to speak out or get shot - mugged - fired - or worse, I like having a source to cause stories to be written and people to talk. If people have a way to say something that gives them anonymity and it is followed up on proves to be true published and taken care of that is great. To much goes on in our world now that gets hidden away from fear.
