Justme it may just pay min. wages, but that is what must teens live on and understand.  But in the longer run it helps encourage other stores to start looking around north Rome to bring even more jobs.  With those more stores it brings more industry with better paying jobs.  Change will happen regardless of how we feel, and despite how many feel at least Rome does still have more open jobs then most areas around us.  I moved here 6 years ago because there was jobs and at least here even Mcdonalds offers some higher paying jobs.

When I left North Carolina after 8 full industires totally closed layoff thousands, Mcdonalds was hiring managers at 6 bucks an hour becuase it could.

So yes I do hate the traffic and I do hate seeing it grow so wild and fast, But I also love the jobs and higher industry that follows.

well said Deaglos.  the whole thing about people having to "live on minumum wage" is a red herring.  min. wage is for teenagers in their first jobs, to keep them from getting totally taken advantage of.  once you have some skill and experience, you can demand more.

I discussed this with several friends at work, one said it makes sense to put the CVS there.  It is between two hospitals; it's a convenient spot.  '

But, the City of Rome, Berry College and the Hwy 27 Association need to get together on this and at least make this CVS and its landscaping look historic or actually add to the landscape around it.

If you want a development to worry about, worry about the Ledbetters leveling the duck pond and woods along Riverside all the way from Turner McCall to the tracks across from Ridge Ferry. They want a matching strip mall type deal across the street from the one they just built. That is such a pretty tract of land; it'll be a shame if people just let them have it without insisting on some greenspace along with it.

I don't  understand. If ledbetter owns it why should other people have any say about what he does with it. He pays for it. He pays the taxes on it.

Actually, I was hoping for a house of ill repute to be put on that corner with a road house next door to it.  So much for tourism:?

You have a point but here is another one to think about, suppose someone owned land across from your residence and they decided to put a dump or junk yard, they pay the taxes, they own the land, should you have a say in what is put there?

Why are you on here if you think people on here should get a life.

Well if you really want it to look historical, leave a bunch of bushes, 3 foot tall scrub grass and weeds, and toss in a bunch of trees between the buildings.  Historically it was a forest.

yup historic

I just worry about what goes on between the iron poles that mark my property. The county made my neighbor spend alot of money to clean and repair their property. The old look or the new look i could care less. Thats his business.

OldMan you are always welcome, and so are your opinions.

It is also very true that some people could use a better or new life, but how they choose to spend the time they have should also not concern anyone.

Hell I only get on the board from home and even then do not have much time anymore.  This week I have been out with Kidney infection and muscle spasms, but still checking in on a few things.

But I to should get a life according to some, so all I ever say is I have the life I enjoy and can afford, you don't like it give me a couple million and I will buy a new one.
