This morning I had to go out Shorter Ave. just as the sun was rising. The traffic was light enough for a change where you could look at general scenery than having to watch out for crazy drivers.

I never really put much thought into the scenery along the way there but I had the Lindale topic on my mind and I really considered the look along the roadway.

Shorter Ave. from Horseleg to beyond Ryan's is really an ugly scenic roadway. Its an assortment of car lots, older small residential structures converted into store buildings along with many crappy looking small buildings, some assorted franchise locations and a few churches.

Many of the buildings are painted some really loud unappealing colors or in need of dozing over or renovation.

I did think of that also but forgot to include it. Downtown looks very alive where most small towns have the opposite condition.

Only thing I hate about downtown is those dang lights on the trees. It looks like Christmas year round. :(

Those year round lights make it so you can sing "Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas!" anytime of the year while on Broad and be correct!

The Hispanics cant be blamed for the overall look of Shorter Ave. Its been like that long before they arrived. It seems the new trend of blame for all problems is blame the Hispanics now.

no i was actually talking about south broad as that has been deemed little mexico for some time now, not shorter, I have no clue what happened down that way but it has been happening for a while, i do not blame them for anything as this area has been going downhill for a while.

That's ok, no harm just making conversation to make the night go by.

Monster Anus, I think you and I are thinking along the same lines, here is the post I made last night on the "Biggest waste of tax payer money" thread.

Actually, I liked the little "cheesy thing" that was there much better. I hated it when it was vandalized. I think the money for this project, the foot bridge, parking garage, and golf carts could have been much better spent. From Horseleg creek to Coosa school, it makes Lindale look good.

I will add that I agree totally with you, they are starting to do a little with the new drugstores and remodeling of some places but there is a lot more that needs to be done.

What looks bad is all those vacant supermarket stores, like the old kroger and others that are just vacant and running down, really sad they could not open a skating rink or place for kids to go down that way, really sad:(
