Just my personal opinion of course but....I think (and am hoping) that McCain just sealed the deal for Obama/Biden. He showed complete lack of judgement when he picked someone with even way less experience than Obama when he has said all along that Obama isn't ready to lead our country. By this choice, he showed he is either lying about feeling Obama can't lead w/o more experience OR he showed that he could care less about this country because he is willing to pick a vice prez that wouldn't be able to lead this country effectively should something happen to him, which is the 1st thing to consider when choosing a vice president (I mean, he is on up there in age with health problems, which makes the odds of the vice president becoming actual president even more likely). Obama had the guts to do what he thought was right for this country by not picking Hillary to go on the ticket even though people were saying he was a shoe-in if he just put her on the ticket. McCain on the other hand showed that he is only worried about doing what he thinks will get him elected, not what he thinks is best for this country. It is just something to distract from the real issues and a way he is trying to make Obama's candidacy look less appealing b/c his ticket has some historic significance too....it's a cheap ploy that is actually degrating to women. Come on - if he wanted a woman, why not pick Sen. Hutchison or Condi Rice, some women with power and experience (personally I feel like he shouldn't put any woman on the ticket at all just to make it look good since there were a lot of men out there that were more qualified and better picks but I'm just saying if he felt like he just had to put a woman on the ticket to steal some of the thunder). Instead, he picks a woman who doesn't have experience or name recognition and who looks more like a beauty queen than a politician. If she weren't a woman, he would never have even considered her. To me, it actually makes him look sexist & shows just how out of touch he really is. Does he realy think that Hillary Clinton supporters are going to support him just because there is a woman on the ticket even when this woman stands for exactly the opposite of Hillary's beliefs. We weren't voting for Hillary because she was a woman but because she was a woman who cared about the issues we cared about, etc. McCain just doesn't get it!!!!!!!!

You got any idea how many women who were Hillary supporters but were going to vote for Obama because Hillary said to who will now jump at the opportunity to vote a ticket that has a woman on it? I don't. But I just wanted to get you all to think about it.

McCain Taps Alaskan Governor Palin. It does have a nice ring to it, but it just kind of makes him sound too much like Bill Clinton, though, doesn't it??

No woman that isn't delusional is going to vote for McCain just because he has a woman on the ticket. McCain and his Palin are the exact opposite of Hillary on every single issue. I sure didn't support Hillary because she was a woman. Yes, it's inspirational and gives me hope that this country is really making progress to know that a woman and an African American candidate (actually, he is just as white as he is black but of course in this country if you're bi-racial everybody considers you to be black but that's a totally different topic) can get this far in their bid for presidency, but Obama's skin color and Hillary's gender are not the reason I support either one of them. I'm a woman but not going to go out and vote for McCain just to see a woman in the White House. Any Hillary supporter who plans to vote for McCain b/c Obama didn't pick Hillary is either A) just talking because they are disappointed and won't actually do it) or B) never really cared about/believed in this country or the issues that Hillary stood for.

I wonder just how Mitt Romney and Joe Lieberman feel about McCain's decision. Can't possibly be good. I did hear Gov Palin's pitch to the woman that she may be courting for votes. It wouldn't have swayed me one iota. Just because there is a chance in uniting 18 million votes to "crack the glass ceiling," I would have to have more reason to vote for a person than gender alone.

I believe it was the best move he could make. All the other people he has to choose from had too much political baggage. She is releatively unknown, a woman (not a bad looking one either) To top it all off, there was a huge faction of women ticked because Obama didnt't pick Hillary that already said they were going to vote for McCain now. That will make them feel better about their choice. Once again I will say the whole process has let us down this time.

If they feel like McCain did this just to get their votes, I predict they will RUN from him... not walk.

From Womens E News: Some fear Clinton voters will be so upset by a loss they will vote for McCain. A March Gallup poll showed that at least 28 percent of Clinton supporters would vote for McCain if he is the nominee. Geraldine Ferraro, a vocal Clinton supporter who made a historic bid for vice president in 1984, told the New York Times she may not vote for Obama.

On a side note, this will make the upcoming Fashion Thread of the Republican Convention way, way more interesting than the typical tie discussion that I thought we were going to have.
