Why does everyone wants to throw this guy out? Were talking TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS for goodness sake? Not even a DUI !!!

I suppose when it's a public official, we just throw away due process, and feed him to the wolves... IMHO

Maybe he's had 7 years to resolve something like that and done nothing? What else is there he's known about for a long time that he had absolutely no intention of doing anything about? Do you want someone like that in his position? I don't.

I want him gone, because apparently he has no respect for the law!

They have proved that he KNEW that his license was suspended.  He was served the papers!!!  Due process?  7 yrs without a license!  HE did not take care of his own business, so he should not try to take of Floyd's business!  IT is not about the TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS!!!  IT is about the lying and being ill responsible, that is the big problem.

That sounds like a good idea.:)

When you are a public official, it's just that. PUBLIC! That means you need to keep your nose clean, because those skeletons have a way of coming out of the closets.

I'm sure he took some sort of oath when he was sworn in. :?

So, what law enfarcement officials should have been responsible for catching this, and did they know anything, and if not, why not (don't the commissioners have to go through background checks?), and so on and so forth.

I've known him most of my life... we attended West Rome together. I'm not going to say he's perfect. Nor have I agreed with every decision he's made as a commissioner. However to attack his business (Regions) and to demand his resignation seems to be extreme. With all due respect, let's let the legal process follow it's course, then if the "lynching" needs to occur... So be it.

IMHO

I think the biggest problem with all this is that he is an elected official and held to a higher standard.  It's not like this just happened and he was in the process of fixing it.  But instead he tried to use his government ID to get himself out of trouble, which makes you wonder was this the first time that he had been pulled over.  All he should have to do is pay the fine and reinstatement to get this taken care of.  I dont understand why he has not come out and said it has been resolved.

Ferrari Owner, I agree that his position at Regions isn't really an issue to me. I also have known Garry for a long time, more when I was younger but nonetheless I know him and his family. They have always been pretty good people to me.

I think that if I were his employer I would reconsider his position at the bank but that is only because he has proven that he will "underhandedly" try to get away with things or use his "positions" to his advantage when he can. For me, this proves that he is dishonest and has no respect for policies, procedures and more importantly the law!

I am really amazed that Garry has NOT addressed the people of this county. It seems to me that if it was all innocent and accidental/put off or whatever, then he would want to justify that to those who are holding him to a higher standard instead of those in office with him that DO NOT hold him to the same standard that we do. If you ask me the other county officials that are making light of what has happened have lost my respect as well. They should come together and voice that what Garry did is not normal practices of those in office, yet they say nothing which just confirms for all of us that it IS in fact normal practices for them. (Which is what we all assume anyway)

I know that if I made a mistake or intenionally did something wrong, I'm owning up to it, especially when there is PROOF. He has to know the excuse he has offered is LAME! And I agree with Rednkgirl, it's not about the TRAFFIC VIOLATION, it's more about his morales and his lack of respect for the law and those he serves.

I wish him the best but like I tell my children, lying will get you nowhere in life that you want to go. It's always best to be truthful and do what you are supposed to do! Obey the law, follow the rules, treat others like you want to be treated and be proud of who you are! At this point I am sure Garry is not the only one not proud of what he did.

He knowingly, and in violation of the law that gets people jailed all the time, drove while his license was suspended.  He is rightfully held to a higher standard than that poor slob from south Rome.  I hope he keeps his job at the bank but I want him gone as a commissioner.
