Does the Commision have an ethics policy?  If not, they need one!!!  Would an employee of Floyd County be fired for doing this?

Bobster wrote: Jerry I really hope you dig into this story. I think there is a lot here. For your amusement, here are some other points to ponder. On a generic Floyd County employment application, does it say anything about a driver's license is required. I know Fricks was elected and not employed, but he should be held to the same standard as his employees that he governs. If they don't have a license or insurance, they get canned. Likewise, Fricks needs to be canned.

Georgia Open Records gives officials three business days to hand over the records you request. Hold them to it. You are entitled to search the police and floyd county's database of incident reports. Some nugget of information should be in there to say what caused his license to be suspended.

Also, here  is another possible gem, check Fricks expense records when he goes to those ACCG meetings in Savannah. See if they give him a credit card. Ask for an itemized billing of items he might have put on his hotel room bill. Check to see if he was reimbursed for driving his personal car or if he took a Floyd County car.

Keep up the good job Jerry.

He is a employee.  Here is his oath that he took.

TITLE 45.  PUBLIC OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES  CHAPTER 3.  OFFICIAL OATHS AND COMMISSIONS  ARTICLE 1.  OFFICIAL OATHS

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
O.C.G.A. § 45-3-13 (2007)
§ 45-3-13.  Loyalty oath -- Form    The oath prescribed in Code Section 45-3-11 shall be in the following form:      "I,              (Name) a citizen of          and being an employee of              and the recipient of public funds for services rendered as such employee, do hereby solemnly swear and affirm that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of Georgia, and that I am not a member of the Communist Party.
"HISTORY: Ga. L. 1949, p. 960, § 3; Ga. L. 1950, p. 282, § 1.
Ethic policies aren't worth the paper they are written on. Usually there is no teeth (sanctions) written into them for violators. Ever so often, the ACCG or municipal associations will push various government entities to become counties or cities of ethics. This never amounts to anything. At minimum, it just reminds cities and counties of their ethical responsibilities.
A better ethics policy is an aggressive fourth estate -- like Jerry (i.e. Romenewswire).
I would not get my hopes up about anything happening to him!  Remember the FIRE CHIEF!!!!!  He was drunk in public and even used his position to say that nothing would happen to him!!!!!
Very good point Watchr. He is an employee. But who hires and fires him? The voters. Unfortunately it sounds like Fricks is the only person that showed up for the job interview.
if you really want to put the heat on him.............................................................write the other county commissioners, their emails are readily available, and ask them what their official position is on this matter.............................................................."disappointed" or "surprised" is not good enough...............................................................ask them specifically if a person who has done what Fricks has DESERVES to remain a commissioner..............if you don't get a response, call them...........................I'd LOVE to see what response (or lack of response) you get..................And of course post it on RNW.................................................................
Maybe it's just my computer but WHY was the link to the police report removed from the article.............................................................................and I would LOVE to see the dashboard video from the arrest...............................................................and if I'd love to see it, I'm sure I'm not alone....................
OH, and as of 11:32 p.m., the story is no longer on any of the front webpage news at RN-T...................................Commissioner getting arrested?  No big deal.....
18 wheeler overturning in alabama???? top story..............................................HOW do the REAL reporters at RN-T sleep at night???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????H-A-C-K-S......................
I would like to see those in the position to do so, just refuse to talk to RN-T reporters..........................................................................they are a joke and they do more harm than good..................................................................if you're not breaking the law or being unethical, then don't worry about "beggin" for their protection by providing them with stories, just tell 'em "no thanks" when they come trying to interview you.......................................................
Romegasir: ditto about the dash cam.
Jerry here is another idea. The ACCG (Association County Commissioners of Georgia) will have its annual training workshops/get-together on July 11 through the 15th.
Since the meeting is coming up, why not post what the county spent last year on sending officials to this conference. Get their credit card bills, vouchers or whatever they were reimbursed. This might be an eye opener.
Actually NATIVEROMAN all the you need in order for an license to be suspended is a minor traffic ticket. Maybe you should do some research on this before you feel the need to get your opinion out there and try to bash someone for something that you do not indeed know anything about. So go do some research and then please make another comment correcting yourself. That would be beneficial to everyone reading this, instead of misleading them with your elementary knowledge.
ummmmmmmmmmmmm, it takes more than a traffic ticket to suspend your license, UNLESS you refuse to handle that ticket......................as in show up for court or pay the fine.............Are you telling me that it's okay for a county commissioner to get a traffic ticket and then say "screw it, I'm above that........I'll just ignore it and see what happens?"
Not too smart
wanted to quote this before he/she edits and changes it AGAIN.......................If you get a "minor Traffic Ticket' and you show up for court or pay the ticket (as you promise when you sign the ticket) then your license CAN NOT be suspended for a minor traffic ticket.................................................................SO, is rbwilliams saying that Garry Fricks is a liar by promising to show up for court or pay the ticket when he signed it OR is the saying that he, rbwilliams, is incorrect by claiming that one's license can be suspended for a minor ticket ???????????????????????????
