I'm so happy today! After several days of thinking, I came to the conclusion this morning, that I'm now well enough to go to my story scenes and return full time a week early.

I am scheduled for an appt. on the 20th that would make sure my ankle had progressed enough that i could loose the crutches and begin walking with a walker boot on. It has healed enough now, that there is scar from the surgery and it gets sore after a while of using it sparingly for support/balance.

As many of you may have seen, during my recovery, I left my newly appointed promotion to full time crime reporter and digressed back to the part time weekend position. I had planned on resting during the week with the scanner off, but found that was impossible:P. I found myself "dispatching" JD to the stories while I wrote them, and then posting the camera phone pics. I also found myself "voluntarily" posting my own stories throughout the week, even in the middle of the night just as I couldn't sleep last night.

But last Friday, I had a breakthrough when my aunt took me out to eat at Longhorn. You wouldn't believe how good it felt to be out! That was the first time I was ever proud to go to West Rome (No offense, but I'm an East Rome man:P:cool:). I had them ride me around for an hour, lol. I realized then that while it might be challenging at first, I could make it on crutches now that I can stand.

So effective 9:00 AM this morning, I'm full-time again. I do realize that I have to be careful, but I'll try not to let it get in my way of reporting and photography.

I'd also like to thank everyone who has supported and checked on me throughout this ordeal. That includes JD, Candy, and our many bloggers who have helped me. I'd also like to thank in chronological order of their participation:P, the ER staff at Floyd, Dr. Bowerman who is my orthopedic surgeon and is responsible for my quick recovery along with his staff at Rome Orthopedic, and finally, the nurses of pre-op and recovery at Floyd. Without all y'all (and the RNW Laptop:cool::P;)) I don't know how I would've made it without cracking up, lol.

I don't know if you requested Dr. Bowerman or if it was luck of the draw but he is absolutely the BEST ortho doc around.  I have heard he is considered one of the best in the South East.  EXCELLENT EXCELLENT DOCTOR!!

I'm glad you are feeling better!!

Welcome back.

Funny, I dont consider Longhorn's West Rome...is it?  I am a West Rome chick myself and only come over to East Rome when absolutely necessary (trips to Kroger) and lord forbid me attempt to go "exploring" on a back road in East rome.  I end up going round and round, going the wrong way, or in a part of town where people try to wash your windows for you...however..I dont think that is even East Rome any more.  In other words, I get lost.

Glad your back though.  I think Jerry should get a shot gun car for you to attach to the scooter.  That would be too funny :)

I had heard good things about him and then my ER nurse that night was his wife. She's very good to. She suggested him and look where I'm at now. He's one of the best docs I've had and would suggest him to everyone!

While it's in Mid-Town Shopping Center, it's on Shorter so I count everything past the Marine Armory (which is actually #1 Shorter Ave.) as West Rome. We were riding with my cousin and my aunt's friend and had to go to her dad's house in Garden Lakes, so sh had us riding down through there in her old stompin grounds, so I had a tour guide, lol

And I've already said I'll quit if I'm forced to ride the scooter.......lol, jk:P;). Besides, I've already agreed not go around anything with wheels that I'm unsure about, lol.

Already pulled the Under Armor shirt and hat out, lol.

Can't wear the my new khaki cargo pants yet b/c of the walker boot though. But I'm gonna see if they fit over it tonight, lol. The last pair had seen a lot until that fateful night of May 3rd. I about came off the table when the nurse said she was gonna cut them off b/c they had already put a cast on and it wouldn't fit over it.

She realized I was mad at that point and agreed to leave them on til I got home and my mom could surgically cut them down the seam. We're gonna take em and see if they can sew it back up soon, lol

I'll be in the unemployment line with you, if he makes us ride the scooter . I am glad you're back and yes, we will beat you if you "ride" anything with wheels.

Well, I've been back 6 hours an RN-T has done started back to their ways with me. If you'll notice when we break a story, their story will follow and usually try to contradict my headline.

My headline: Major Gas Line Break Prompts Small Evacuation

Their headline: Gas Leak Causes No Problems

Clearly, the area was evacuated and shut down after a high pressure gas line ruptured. That can count as a "problem"

It happens too often to be a coincidence. I enjoy watching it. It's good to have some friendly competition:cool:.

I have been doin the weekend coverage:P! lolololololol.

Don't worry though, there was hardly anything this past weekend. I had to skim the bottom of the barrel just to get the ones I did. I think it's just the calm before the storm though.........:P
